Who Are You Really?

As you traverse your life’s journey, who do you think you are? You start asking questions about your identity, “Who am I?” Who are you? “Am I just an animated biological form helplessly trying to make my way through the rat’s maze of life?” If you are, “What’s the point of my being here at all?” So, you look for meaning in life, and I ask you,

“Who do you think you are?”

I present to you an exercise that might help you find clarity about who you are. You might be surprised that you are far more than you’ve ever given yourself credit for because most people think you are who you are, when nothing could be further from the truth.

When you come to this life, you are given a body and a name. This is who you think you are because that is how the whole world outside of you refers to you, so it’s no surprise that this is who you think you are.

You look in the mirror and you see the reflection of the person you think you are. You can see your body which is recognizable by the name you’ve been given. But this is not who you are.

This is your body which has been given a name that is associated with your body.

You can look at your hand and think that this is your hand, but it is not your hand, it’s your body’s hand. If you cut your hand and see blood dripping from it, you might express something, like “I am bleeding.” Only you are not bleeding. Your body’s hand is bleeding.

If you could take your hand off and put it on the opposite side of the room, and look at it, you can see that you are not your hand. You are still here. You can see your hand over there, yet you are still complete, so you are not the hand.

Continuing this exercise with all the parts of the body will help you to realize that you are not this body which has been labeled with the name which has been assigned to you.

You are something more.

Then you think, “Oh, I am thinking, therefore I am my mind.”

Yet, if you would dare to do it, you could consider continuing the exercise by removing everything that you think you are, all your experiences, thoughts, and beliefs, every thought, and you are still there.

You are something more.

When you’ve completed this phase of the exercise, you realize that you are not the mind. What you are is the conscious source of all life. You can put any label on this which suits your personal paradigm. For me, I refer to this as God because that resonates with me.

If this conscious source of all life were removed from the body with your name associated with it, your lifeless body would collapse to the floor.

Once you understand this, you can see that you are this divine consciousness which is present in all life on this planet, our galaxy, all the galaxies in the universe, and whatever is beyond.

In this manner, you realize that you are one with everything, but you are experiencing this life as a journey witnessed from the vantage point of your identity in your body, so enjoy this life’s journey for what it is.

You might not be able to identify with this exercise and that is perfectly fine. There is no judgment here, and you are perfectly correct in whatever you think about who you are.

What do you want to be known for?

Isn’t it time that you started thinking about how you would like to be known or remembered for? What would you like people to say about you after you’re gone?

Now is the time to start establishing yourself as the person you’d like to be known as.

You’re a wise world walker and as such, you have the ability to see and perceive things unencumbered by the social restrictions that confine other earthlings with limiting beliefs.

The first step in establishing the person that you would like to become is to take stock of where you are currently. Evaluate how you see yourself, how others think about you, and if possible, try to get honest third-party perceptions about the kind of person you are.

Having an objective opinion about one’s self is the first step of wisdom.

I’m a list person, so I would suggest getting a piece of paper and start jotting down what other people’s opinions of you are as well as how you think others might perceive you objectively.

We tend to see ourselves from within and consider the person who we are to be the most intimate and trusted person we know. We know our thoughts, motivations and inner feelings. So, we know how deeply we feel about certain people, circumstances and topics but no one outside ourselves knows how we feel.

Decide which inner feelings you’d like to have recognized for by your family, peers, coworkers, community and possibly the world at large.

So, here’s the next list: Who I Want to be known as?

Go ahead; go crazy. This is your life. The impression you leave on others is all that remains of your life’s journey.

It might help to relax and imagine what you might like to hear people saying about you at your funeral (avoiding the morbidity of the idea). You need not go as far as writing your own eulogy, though some people like doing this as part of the process.

This is not a one-time affair. The wise world walker is constantly evaluating his or her life, being aware of where they are in their journey and intentionally putting their sights on other destinations to engage with.

As a matter of fact, as I write these words, I too, am reflecting deeply… and have just uncovered something that brought me to tears. Though too intimate to share publicly, the basis of it is simply:

I have sincere, deep feelings about something.

The public (exterior) sense of others might have no idea about how passionately I feel about this thing.

If I ask myself, “Would I like to be remembered for how I feel?” or, “Would I like the world to know how I feel?” and the answer is, “Yes.” Then I have a great deal of work to do.

It is not always comfortable work – and in most cases it is not – but thank God you have the wherewithal to realize the separation that exists between

where the perception of you lies

and

what you would like to have known about you.

Your challenge – if you decide to accept it – is to think of ways that your true, authentic self can be seen by others and start taking action.

Who are you?

Let people know who you are.

I want to know you for everything that you would like to be remembered for.

Don’t just tell me; show me.

Sometimes you feel like your life means nothing, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. The exact opposite is true: Your life means everything. You came to this planet with a divine mission, to share your sacred gift.

You’ve felt the tug on your heartstrings. Inside you know you were meant for something more in this life, but you feel unworthy. Any time you even think about having a grander mission, message, or purpose for living, you hear all those negative inner voices telling you all the reasons you are not qualified.

The fact of the matter is that there is no one who is more qualified for you to share your message than you. The most effective method for God to disseminate your message is via someone exactly like you, who have had the experience, witnessed and experienced all the life you have endured.

Perhaps, to you, you think this life has been unfair or cruel and nothing good comes from this life, or any life which has smelled, seen, tasted, heard, or felt the things you know first-hand.

I can tell you this for certain, there are particular people who are in desperate need of receiving your sacred gift, and they would not receive it from anyone else but you. Someone else could use the same words that you might use, but those words would fall on deaf ears because they did not come from your lips, your pen, your keystrokes.

You have felt the same way, haven’t you? Someone tried to tell you something with a kind heart, sensitive and caring, but their words did not resonate with you because you knew they could not possibly know what you were going through. They just had no real frame of reference.

You might find effective methods of distracting yourself from answering the call by spending time online, out with friends, playing video games, shopping, or other ways to make yourself comfortably numb, in an effort to avoid your inner nudge to step out in faith to make an important contribution to your people, the local community, and the world who desperately need your sacred gift.

You must let go of the things that are holding you back, your negative self-talk, insecurities, and anything else that is preventing you from reaching out in faith. You do not need to be 100% confident in your abilities to fully express your sacred gifts, only courageous enough to step into the void, confident enough to know that God and all his angels will be there to support you and catch you if you fall.

It is more important to do a thing in faith than to have everything set up to be perfect. You and your gift are perfections. It may be awkward at first, but you will find it becoming easier and easier as you answer your divine calling, exercising your gifts and honing your skills along the way.

I was never an exceptional singer or songwriter but that didn’t keep me from using this as a method to communicate at a time when I knew of no other way to reach out to my prospective audience waiting to hear my words. For me, this was a stepping stone that would lead me down a different path, finding new ways to connect with others through writing, counseling, public speaking, teaching, and training.

If I’d let my lack of self-confidence keep me down, I would have never been able to help those I’ve assisted in achieving their highest and best, in only ways that I could have. This is my divine calling.

We do not have to be perfect, only brave enough to trust that something bigger and wiser than we could ever be is at work behind the scenes, and has selected you, and only uniquely you, to accomplish this task.

What if you never answer the call? No problem. You have free will to do, or not to do, things and to live your life in any way you decide. God will use someone else to do the best they can to pick up the slack, but you were God’s first choice.

One of my dearest friends, whom I loved dearly, committed suicide, leaving a note with only these words,

“My life means nothing.”

This was after spending years of fulfilling purpose in the assistance of others with the empowered sharing of sacred gifts, then something happened. I don’t really know the details of what darkness befell my dearest friend, but clearly, it had been too much to bear for another moment, when the following day would have been an altogether new day.

Many people do not cut their life short in such a dramatic way but do spend a great deal of time and effort, sometimes spanning the whole of their lives avoiding their sacred calling.

Will you answer the call today?

Reach out to me, and I and my people will help you get from where you are to where you will be able to honor your sacred fit, and in a sense, sing your song, as only you can sing it.

Your calling is calling you.

Call me.

Getting to Know Yourself

If you want to be in a position to be true to yourself and connect with others at a deeper level, you might consider getting to know yourself first.

Your Personal Inventory

To start to grasp who you are in this moment, you can take an inventory of the things that make you, the you that you are now. (Which may be different than who you have been in the past, or even who you were yesterday.)

1 Values and Beliefs

In general, you can usually determine who you are by documenting your values and beliefs. These are the primary things that influence who you are at the deepest level, they are indicators of how you are likely to react to certain stimuli.

You can rate yourself on a list of personal values, the determine the top three or four which are mostly responsible for making you who you are.

The things which are the most meaningful for you may be indicators of and should be related to, or in alignment with, your sacred assignment, calling, or mission in life. They all shape the parameters of your life’s style and make up your list of things you’d like to accomplish or contribute to, in your life.

2 Life Experience

Is there anything you can remember in your life, or if you think about the possibility of it being a part of your life, which brings you to tears? Not in a bad, way but fills your whole body with the frequency of pure love’s vibration? This is probably part and parcel of your divine purpose.

3 What Turns You On?

Next up, make a list of those things that turn you on. What piques your interest and easily grabs your attention? What are you curious or passionate about? What brings you joy and makes you happy? These items can include anything from hobbies to important causes which deeply move you.

4 What is Your Personality Type?

What is your basic personality type? We all have basic personality traits which make up the person we are. We all have different combinations of personality traits. Even with all the possible combinations of personality traits which are possible, it is generally accepted that there are four primary categories that can quickly identify a dominant category fairly quickly and easily.

You may easily determine What kind of cat are you? You could possess qualities of all possible combinations of cat-types, which would make it hard to quickly identify you with any one type, though many people have a primary or dominant cat-type. (Types of cats inspired by Hippocrates’ cat.)

5 Your Biorhythm

What is your base biorhythm? This is the internal biological clockwork that works 24/7 inside you. It determines whether you’re a morning person or a late-night person. When are the times of day when you seem to perform your best? Do you need eight hours of sleep or will four-and-a-half suffice? Are you more productive after taking a 20-minute mid-day power nap?

6 Special Gifts and Abilities

What are your special abilities? We all have them. You may take yours for granted, as many people do. This is because to you it’s no big deal. You find you’re exercising your special gifts and abilities as something easy, or even routine, but onlookers? They are amazed at your innate ability to do your thing so easily.

7 What Do Others Think About You?

This is a tough one because it is impossible to know what is going on inside someone else’s head. There’s a pretty good chance you don’t know what other people are whispering behind your back. And you won’t really know what they think about you until you’re dead, and if you haven’t guessed it already, by then, it’s too late for you to take advantage of this information.

But you can query the people that you know, the ones that you think could be the most trusted to tell you the truth. First, ask them what they think about you, then follow up with what they think other people think about you.

With this information in hand, it will give you an idea of the present status of your brand, and it will give you an idea about what areas need to be addressed, because people may not be aware of those special features that you’d like them to know about you.

If you’ve gone through these exercises, documented and reviewed your results, you are getting to know yourself and have a pretty good idea of who you are today, right now in real-time.

With this information in hand, you can begin to structure your life consciously to maximize your highest and best potential.

Who Are You Known As?

You owe yourself the honor of seeing that you are represented in the world in a way that is in accordance with how you would like to be known and/or remembered. So, who are you known as?

You know who you are. You know how you think, what’s important to you, what makes your heart sing, etc.… but are you presenting yourself in such a way, so others can see you for who you are?

More often than not, we are oblivious to how others perceive the public image we project of ourselves.

Nowadays, we have these huge social media billboards posted all over the Internet. You may think of yourself as being a certain kind of person, but what do you look like on the World Wide Web?

In a worst-case scenario, since nearly no one knows it will come, how would you be seen by those who looked you up online after hearing that you had died in an accident today? Chances are, no one has your password, so your social media life would be frozen in time at the sound of your flatline.

Beeeeeeeeep.

Looking at some random people’s social media, you could safely assume that this person would be known as someone who hates the President. This person believes in aliens. Here’s an avid conspiracy theorist. This person falls in love with a different person every month and vacillates between hating and loving prospective lovers.

Here’s a sarcastic critic of just about everyone and everything. Here’s somebody who relentlessly posts shameless selfies. This guy never wears a shirt and has pineapple-hair. This person is clearly always in a drunken stupor, and here’s the world’s biggest fan of marijuana.

I had a friend who was clearly identified as a thrill seeker, so it was no surprise when he was involved in a fatal accident. In his case, his social media was an accurate representation of his tendency to tempt fate. But there was so much more to him that those of us who knew him well saw in him which was not represented on the Internet.

If your ability to post on social media was curtailed by your ability to live, how would you be remembered? It might be worth taking a look at. Maybe it’s time to post something congruent with how you might like to be remembered?

And that’s just your virtual personality. What about in real life?

In real life, at school, work, hanging with friends, we often represent ourselves in one way, when the identity of our authentic self is quite different. We might hide our sensitive side, or present ourselves as bolder, to either prevent ourselves from being vulnerable or to advance our position among peers or coworkers.

You are far more than people might think who you are or what you do.

Chances are, even your family members may not know your best attributes. What you believe,

Maybe it’s time to take a look at how you are perceived in the community. Ask friends and coworkers whom you can trust how they see you. Do they see you the way you want to be seen?

Who are you? Today might be a good take to take a look at your personal brand.

Who Do You Think You Are?

As you traverse your life’s journey, who do you think you are? You start asking questions about your identity, “Who am I?” Who are you? “Am I just an animated biological form helplessly trying to make my way through the rat’s maze of life?” If you are, “What’s the point of my being here at all?” So, you look for meaning in life, and I ask you,

“Who do you think you are?”

I present to you an exercise which might help you find clarity about who you are.

Then you think, “Oh, I am thinking, therefore I am my mind.”

Yet, if you would dare to do it, you could consider continuing the exercise by removing everything that you think you are, all your experiences, thoughts, and beliefs, every thought, and you are still there.

You might not be able to identify with this exercise and that is perfectly fine. There is no judgment here, and you are perfectly correct in whatever you think about who you are.

Who do you think you are?

Who Are You? What Do You Do?

Everything revolves around your answers to the two questions every person you meet asks you, “Who are you? What do you do?”

When you’ve decided to take a stand or make your mark, you will be miles ahead doing the preliminary work of creating a platform to support yourself along the way, so prepare for exponential success.

Who Are You?

To start off, you must define who you are. Of course, you know who you are, but how are people who don’t know you going to know who you are and what you do? Lets stat with who you are.

Try to encapsulate in a few paragraphs your life as it has led until now. No need to go into great detail, but be certain to include key elements which helped develop you into the person you are today. Don’t worry if you think your life has been lackluster or unglamorous. If you think your life was awful, look at these famous celebrities who suffered prior to achieving their highest and best.

Be brief, but transparent. Enquiring people want to know you have a history, and who knows? Your story may be incredibly inspiring for someone else.

What Do You Do?

This is the second question anyone asks you, so be ready with a one-sentence answer about what you do which sets you apart from anyone else. But before you answer this question, you will be miles ahead, if you know your purpose, message, passion, and mission (PMPM). I know many people who were forever known as one thing because they were not congruent with their PMPM at the time they were visited by media exposure and lived to regret it.

Armed with a clear sense of who you are and what your PMPM is, you can go about the work of creating your congruent unique identity, which we refer to as your brand.

Let’s take a brief look at what this might look like. Let’s say, for instance, you are a man who was raised in an urban neighborhood where cats over-populated the area. But you admired the cats, not far from being homeless yourself, as a young child, you could imagine what it might be like to be a disadvantaged cat. You could relate to them, you had compassion for them.

Then, one day, you visited your grandmother in a nursing home, to you, she seemed to be in a crowded facility, yet alone, not unlike a cat. So, one day you brought a cat from the neighborhood, “Scruffy,” one that you had nurtured to health, and gifted it to your grandmother.

It changed your grandmother’s life and the two of them, the grandmother and Scruffy lived out their lives together in joyous harmony. This was when you realized what your mission in life was to be.

Who Are You?

I’m JAG, just a guy who was raised in a neighborhood overrun by cats, but I loved them and became known as the Man Who Saves Cats.

What Do You Do?

I’m a Feline Rescue Engineer and as the Man Who Saves Cats, I match disadvantaged cats with people whose lives can be enhanced by the love and affection a cat can give.

Add to these a simple 30-second elevator speech, which you have practiced and can quickly recite verbatim and you are almost there because you’ll want to make sure you…

Buy the Dot-Com

In my Branding Masters seminars, a key component of capitalizing on those brief moments in time when the planets align, and you have a few seconds to capitalize on your media exposure, the dot-com makes all the difference. So, having the dot com which represents who you are and what you do (if at all possible. If not, keep reinventing, until you can find an available and catchy dot-com) is so important.

Properly prepared and positioned you can fulfill your life’s mission with expanded efficacy by laying the proper groundwork. Then, if you ever find yourself in front of a microphone, for even the briefest of moments, you can take advantage of that moment in time to expand the reach of your mission, even more.

Even if you are a witness to an unrelated freak accident or disaster, the interviewer will ask those two questions. If your answer includes “Man Who Saves Cats” and “Feline Rescue Engineer” and you own those dot-coms, and have information on those websites delineating who you are, what your mission is, and how people can join you in your mission, you’ve grasped the ultimate brass ring.

If this happens to you, and you are prepared, people will mob rush

manwhosavescats.com
and
felinerescueengineer.com

You will see your web servers explode with web traffic, your email servers will smoke, and your phone will ring off-the-hook if you’ve taken these preliminary steps. This man could easily then launch the Ultimate Pet Rescue.

You can also take the necessary steps to increase your credibility as a source and expert in your field. See: Where is Your Credibility?

If you are prepared in this way, when good fortune is visited upon you, others will see it as an instant overnight success, as if lightning had struck, never knowing that you had carefully laid the groundwork to ensure your success in the event of such a lightning strike.

Elsewise, you will have been just another nameless face on the TV, forever remembering that moment, when had you been prepared, could have made all the difference in the world. These moments are very difficult, if not impossible, to recreate.

When lightning strikes will you be ready?

Only Visiting This Planet

Ever feel like you don’t belong here? Like you’re from another planet?

Do you occasionally look around at all the people around you – and all their stuff – and ask, “Who are these people?”

When you see a falling star do you make a wish or wonder

When you see a falling star

Do you make a wish?

Or wonder

“Are they coming to take me home?”

I am not here to contradict anything you might believe about yourself of your origin. Whatever you believe is absolutely true, though, just for fun, you might like to consider:

You are not from here and you are not from another planet.

You are from another place far above the cosmos, where you can see all the universes at the same time and from this perspective, the multiverse looks like a huge display at the museum of science, where you can walk around and see everything in real time.

It’s a challenge to fathom from this vantage point because here we live in linear time, where outside all that we know (and have yet to discover) time does not exist, as we know it.

This is where you are from.

One of the attractions at the museum of science includes selecting a life to live on any of the inhabited planets. It is a full immersion experience where you will feel all of the feelings and you may not opt out of the ride once you start it. It will feel like you’ve lived an entire lifetime, and on your planet of choice, you will have lived an entire life but in the museum of science, the ride only takes approximately five minutes.

Using my imagination, I pretend this is where I am from:

While I am living this life, here, on planet earth, I feel at peace with the idea that the greater part of me is off-camera, so to speak, back at my point of origin, lying in a recliner, possibly with a headset hooked up to some large equipment (though I realize this kind of technology is likely not necessary, it just makes it easier to wrap my head around it by visualizing it this way from this vantage point).

With this pretext in mind, sometimes, when I am going through the most intense, dangerous or ironic plot points in my life, I will break character, look into the unseen camera, assuming that the greater part of me is watching from afar, and I’ll say something, like, “Who writes this stuff?”

Okay, back to real life; that was just a fun little diversion.

The truth is, if

All Things Are Possible

Either they are, or they are not; it’s up to you to decide whether they are or they are not.

If all things are possible, then all of us/each of us can come from, and go to, anywhere.

So, if you’re feeling like you’re not from here, you’re probably right.

Elon Musk says we’re all characters in one big video game.

Where are you from? Only you can decide what you can live with. Maybe you’re just from dust to dust and that’s all there is to it. Certainly there are those here on this planet who do have that origin and finite life, you could be one of those.

Or you could be one of the many other possibilities.

Think about that for a minute, or not.

You Are Not Your Job

In our society, often we tend to categorize people by what they do. Someone, somewhere, propagated the idea that we all can be defined by what jobs we hold in our local communities.

You are not your job there is more to life someone call a handyman
Someone call a handyman? There may be more to this man than meets the eye…

How do you feel when someone meets you for the first time and asks you what you do for a living?

Do you think people make certain assumptions about you based on your occupation?

Even though throughout the course of my life I have maintained and sustained my life’s mission of helping people achieve their highest and best, I have performed different kinds of work. Some of the work I have been involved in was more a representation of the larger portion of my personality, otherwise not.

Let’s say you meet me while I am a bartender. You might attempt to categorize (or analyze) me based on me performing this particular function in the community. I suspect that most (if not all) of the assumptions that you might have about the type of person a bartender is couldn’t be further from the truth. I have never been a bartender, but who knows; in many ways, I’ve thought being a bartender would be an interesting in many ways.

At times in my life, I have been active in more than one occupation at a time.

Just like you cannot judge a book by its cover, you cannot determine what kind of person someone is based on their job.

On the other hand, a lot of people tend to take on the characteristics of their profession and do define themselves by their occupation(s). I periodically encounter these people at some point when they begin to realize there must be more to life than their job.

Society has nurtured us to believe that we are here for a purpose. This system would like us to believe that our function in this life is to perform a particular function that perpetuates the living machine, as we are programmed to believe the best we could hope for in life is to get a good education and a high paying job. In the event education is unattainable, we should happy to do the best we can with a lower-paying job and find ways to live on less than we had hoped for.

And, of course, no matter where we are on the income scale, we must have stuff. The more money we make, the nicer stuff we can have. If we want to gain the admiration of our peers, we will get cars, houses or other stuff that might be considered beyond our means… this makes us feel good (for a while).

You may ask yourself,
If I’m not my job, who am I?

There’s a good chance if you haven’t gotten around to that question long ago, its occurring to you now. Why? Because there’s a growing awakening taking place within our society as people are starting to question everything we’ve been programmed to think of ourselves and the parts we play in our communities and interact with the greater community.

We are starting to discover that there is more to this life. As we continue to awaken, we start to realize we have been suppressed and purposely dumbed-down in an attempt to embrace a life of slavery, working for the man, while the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. To keep us from breaking out of this imposed trance we are to believe is all there is to life we are bombarded by data, information and interrupted via media and mob mentality to keep us in a state of fear, keeping us locked-in to the societal construct.

If you are asking, “Who am I?” it is time to begin looking inside to find out and embrace your life’s purpose. Find your own individual message, soundtrack and Sing Your Song.

What an Awesome Life

I love my life so much… If I were to write a book about my life it would be nearly impossible because it would take so many books. I do refer to segments of my life when I write, so I write… and reveal stories, if appropriate and applicable.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing

Sometimes life goes the way I expect, other times I am surprised and shocked. I find that my life’s journey is accompanied by joyous tears of gratitude and sometimes sadness making me love it even more.

Onlookers who love and care about me express deep concern when witnessing my experience facing life events that would appear to be insurmountable for someone else. They might try to console or counsel me, encouraging me to consider living a life more mediocre.

Mediocrity is not an option in my life. I am enjoying living my life full on and all in. Granted, this leaves me more vulnerable to disappointment or heartache but it also means that I enjoy and achieve more than someone afraid of taking the risk of living a wildly fulfilling life.

Life is like Walt Disney World. Some people are content looking at the view from their Orlando hotel with a WDW-facing view, that’s good enough for them. Others might enjoy getting a day pass ticket, actually go in, buy some food and souvenirs, walk around, take some pictures and buy a tee-shirt to prove they’ve been there. Then, there are the adventurers who have to do it all.

I’m the adventurer who wants to feel the thrill of the ride, wondering for a moment if my next breath will eb my last, to feel the exhilaration that comes from discovering that the ride continues. “Whew, made it past that,” just to be surprised by what comes next. And don’t forget, I want to be crying my eyes out to Jiminy Cricket and the Wishes fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom before I call it a night.

In my humble opinion,

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing

I am living my life as though I had a chance to select it from the universe’s largest catalogs of life, like picking a movie from all the movies ever made, and after reading the synopsis for this one I said, “That’s the one,” and booyah, did I get my money’s worth!

I realize that this approach to living a better life where anything is possible may be too much for most people to handle, and that’s okay. I don’t judge, and honor your life’s journey and your choice to live it out any way that brings you the most satisfaction, especially if you’re loving your life as much as I’m loving mine.

For me and my life, I’m lovin’ every minute of it. If you are not…

Well, maybe you just wanted to breeze through life without any surprises, or maybe you wanted to know what it would be like to live a life full of fear with impending suffering and danger… and if you are, consider this:

Is it possible that you chose to live a life that started out with lots of challenges only to make the happy ending that much more amazing?

Consider starting the most amazing part of your life today.

How much better does it get?

Awakening There is More to This Life

Every moment of every day someone wakes up from the sleepwalking daily routine we call life, and in that moment of clarity recognizes that something’s not right.

Remember being asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up,” when you were a youngster?

Ever notice how your answer changed as you grew older? Chances are, when you were younger, you were more optimistic and fanciful about your future… (Most likely) by the time you were ready to finish school, your dreams had been reduced to feeling as though the only hope in life for a glimmer of happiness was to:

Go to college to
Get a Good Job
End of story.

Did you know when you were born, your life had meaning? You came into being with a message and a special purpose. As you began to communicate and articulate your thoughts, you doubtless knew what your message would be and what your life’s purpose was.

In your younger years, you would do things that were congruent with your message and purpose and it would amaze those who witnessed you exercising your gifts, but as you aged the same people who encouraged you in your youth by saying, “That’s amazing,” were now chanting, “but you need to forget all that and think about getting a good job.”

Slowly, but surely, your mission (your message and purpose) was quashed (regarded as fanciful childlike dreams that would never come true) as you were groomed to be nothing more than a cog in the machine of life. You felt like denying your true calling was a good thing, in an effort to find a place to fit in society and survive with little impact, as the inner voices that were beckoning you to fulfill your mission faded away and were lulled to sleep.

Awakening there is more to this life than this purpose message mission meaning

The Awakening

Then, at some point in life, there is an awakening. That moment when you look in the mirror and say,

Who Am I?
How did I get here?

Surveying your surroundings of the life you’ve succumbed to, you say to yourself,

There must be more to my life than this.

This is the heart (which always holds the key to your highest and best) breaking through to communicate with your brain (which has been reprogrammed to protect you from your heart). Your heart will make the best of the life you allow, but true fulfillment and heart-felt satisfaction can only be realized when you are living in harmony with your mission, until then, there will always be a degree of dissatisfaction or longing for something more.

This awareness (even if in brief moments of clarity) will alert your consciousness that something’s got to change. Then you have to make a choice:

Recoil or Reposition

You can second-guess, let the haunting voices of the nay Sayers overcome you or talk yourself out of taking action, recoil and continue to block yourself from you mission, or you can begin to reposition yourself for something new, readying yourself to take action and find the answer to

What is my mission?
How do I start?

It is at this point in the awakening process that people are attracted to me (and others in similar fields) for assistance in finding purpose, increased quality of life (including health and wealth) and help achieving your highest and best.

The more open you are, the less assistance you need; you don’t need anyone’s help, if you can remember back to your childhood – or already have an intuitive knowing – recalling your message and purpose. Then, you can…

Take Action

You owe it to yourself to take action every day – no matter how small – to engage your purpose, to share your message. As you begin to embrace who you truly are (not the mediocrity society has come to expect from you) you will find, see and make new opportunities to exercise your gifts and talents to maximize your mission.

Resonate and Celebrate

This is the satisfaction that I receive in my line of work, to be there in the moment, to celebrate with a client who is resonating with their true sense of empowerment in aligning their lives with their calling. It just doesn’t get any better than that!

Of course, this is MY calling, helping people achieve their highest and best, so little could be so thrilling. (See, it affects me the same way.)

Congratulations!
You’re YOU is coming through

If you’re reading these words, you’re either awake or in the process of awakening…

How exciting!
So happy for you
Great things are coming your way…

Story of My Life How to Write a Book

Rarely does a day go by that someone doesn’t ask me about writing their book. There is no doubt – and I firmly believe – that every person whose heart yet beats has a book inside them dying to get out. The key is allowing the book to be born before you die.

I’m not just randomly saying you need to get your book out before you die because it sounds like a catchy phrase. I’m saying that because I am holding in my hands – right now – the unpublished manuscript from a client and friend who has passed away and it disturbs me greatly.

Story of my life how to write a book

One’s life is comprised of not just a single story, but many stories potentially beneficial to the community at large… or at the very least, preserving your thoughts in your voice, in effect leaving something meaningful behind. And for god’s sake, don’t wait until it’s too late.

People approach me because part of what I do is to help people tell their stories, transitioning to published author. As the author of the out-of-print book, 7-day Author: You Can Write and Publish Your Book in 7 Days, somehow people still get their hands on the book and contact me. 7 Day Author is no longer relevant due to huge changes in book publishing since the book was released. I still assist clients and friends in telling their stories, writing their books and publishing them within a week, although it is done entirely differently now.

Why don’t I revise the book? The fact is, the industry changes rapidly (as many do) and to commit to a book that may lose relevance or go out of print when the shift happens is no longer a compelling motivation for me. So, now I focus on writing books that are more evergreen, having a longer shelf-life and relevancy.

Story of My Life

Back to your story, the story of your life, stories or life’s lessons yearning to be told. When is now a good time to take action?

You never know what life will bring. Every day I thank God for another chance to continue living this life, doing my part –in some (even small) way – to help make the world a better place and to fulfill my life’s purpose of helping others achieve their highest and best.

Hopefully, as you read these words, you are also listening to that voice within beseeching you to, “Please write our story.” The only difference between authors and those who are not authors is that the authors took the action(s) necessary to write and publish their words.

Yes, I do help people write their books for a fee, but it is not my intent to sell you anything, as there are many ways to write and publish your book at little or no cost to you. It’s not about me, it’s about you; your story that must be told. It’s up to you to take the action…

Start writing. Use pen or pencil and paper, type on a typewriter, use a computer or your cell phone. You could even get a digital (or tape) recorder and simply speak your words and either transcribe them yourself, have someone else do it or use your computer as a transcription device using something, like Dragon Speak. However you do it, do something… every day. You will be surprised how a few hundred words a day will accrue into what could become your book, which may include an important message that needs to be told. In fact, it may be the reason you have lived the life that you have lived.

How to Write a Book

The “how” in how to write a book is of less concern to you in this moment than the actual writing of your book. The most important first step requires taking the daily action of recording your thoughts. This is more important than not doing it.

Formulating your ideas into chapters and having a beginning, a middle and an end may be something you can handle, though it is always good to enlist the aid of someone to assist in the formatting, proofreading and editing, if that is possible. If not, don’t let it stop you. Speaking of stopping:

Don’t Let Anything Stop You

Don’t second-guess yourself, do not allow self-doubt to creep up, don’t let any sense of unworthiness threaten your progress. You don’t need to be famous, have a fancy degree or even adequate writing skills to tell your story. You only need to tell it and let nothing stand between you and the publishing of your book.

Publishing your book

It is quicker and easier to publish your book today – now – more than ever. Once you have your manuscript you can publish it freely in both eBook (Kindle) format and physical printed books (the kind you can hold in your hands and sit on your bookshelf) on demand via Amazon.

No Excuses

There is no reason you cannot get this done. Dear God, please don’t let your opportunity to tell your story – in your words – lapse.

We and the world are waiting…
Even now, we are listening for your voice, desiring to read your words…

Share Your Book

If you have taken the action to get your message out and write your book, please let us know in the comments section below, so that others can be encouraged by your decisiveness in taking the action to see your thoughts documented and come to life.
