What Would You Do with 20 Million Dollars?

Okay, just for the sake of this exercise, let’s say that I have a philanthropic billionaire who wants to give you – yes YOU – $20 million.

What would you do with 20 million dollars

Of course, there’s a catch.

The billionaire wants to see that his $20 million goes to a good cause and will help to make the world a better place.

There are no educational or experience requirements to receive the money, just a good heart and a good idea.

You are not allowed to simply donate it to an existing organization. You must create a new non-profit organization that will help the make the world a better place.

This is not a contest, and there is not simply one block of $20 million, there are hundreds of blocks that he and his friends want to donate to regular people, just like you, who are in the trenches of everyday life.

So, you – if you decide to participate in his generous offer – must submit a simple one page description of how you would use his monetary gift to help make the world a better place.

The question is:

What Would You Do with $20 Million Dollars?

To help make the world a better place?

You might ask what how you will be compensated for your efforts of managing his financial gift?

What do I get?

You may hire yourself to work for your organization, if you like – but if you do – you will have to perform specific job duties from the office of your organization and you must work a 40-hour week, without benefits and/or vacation for a modest wage of no more than $1,200.00 a month. The salary limit applies to everyone in your organization; no one may ever be paid more than $1,200-a-month.

What’s in it for me?

The satisfaction that comes from doing a great service for both this philanthropist and the world at large by creating something amazing, that someone else may not have been able to accomplish without the combination of his money and your heart-centered vision… not much else.

So, to recap:

  1. You submit your idea.
  2. You get $20 million to manage.
  3. You can choose to hire yourself (or not) to manage the $20 million. If you do, you may only receive a $1,200 monthly stipend and you must work a 40-hour week without benefits or vacation time.

Question #1

Would You Do It?

Question #2

What Would Your Project Be?

With my clients, every one of them immediately has an idea already in mind and enthusiastically produces a one-page description of their project… Just in case there is a philanthropist (and there may be) that wants to support their efforts to help make a better world, both in the now and for future generations.

I have also offered the scenario to strangers – people I don’t know and who don’t know me – and their reaction is very different indeed.

For all they know, I could be the philanthropist with a $20,000,000 check in my pocket (and when asked, I’ve neither confirmed, nor denied, such an idea).

Most of them shrug off the offer as a ridiculous proposition.

Many say, “I wouldn’t even waste my time thinking about it for that!” (referring to the $1,200 a month.)

Also, a very large percentage, have a response, like:

“I can’t think of anything that could help make the world a better place.”

And indicating that their life is okay, so what does it matter about anyone else?

What would you do?

  1. I would go back to the town of Cleveland, OH where I was born and back to my old neighborhood. And create a learning center to teach the African American children to use their minds to create the reality they desire. Help them realize that they can be , do and have anything THEY desire through the power of the mind.

  2. Open meditation centers/ employ people to teach meditation everywhere, coz people/ kids need that the most in today’s world.
School, offices, prisons, workplaces, communities, anyplace one can think of. Of course with a slight reward or positive reinforcement to practice everyday.

Also would love to open schools in India, where kids with varied interests can pursue their interest ( sports, research, arts……) and
    Complete their education.

Nothing in this world is impossible, if they truly want to change the world and have lot of money to do so, they should be generous towards those who help them achieve their dream

  3. I think if a billionaire had given me twenty million dollars I would invest in a program for children of all ages. The reason for it is Alot of kids are left everyday on their own after school so they invest their time into things they shouldn’t like drugs or some kids having mental breakdowns because Alot of parents can’t be their all the time for their kids cause they have to work or have family issues. But I believe that having a building specifically for kids would help them achieve more having people to help them with homework or having people to teach them other skills or just being able to interact with other kids in a safe inviornment. They wouldn’t be subject to being missed bye those in negative situations and would be able to interact and build good people skills and friendships in a safe inviornment. That’s what I would love to see. Also me being a mechanic I think it would be cool to teach those that want to learn trades at an early age would benefit them in the long run and I think through all of it the kids would have people they could trust and be able to communicate with them if need be. I would love to see our next generation of kids Alot more stable then us and that would lead them in a long chain of generations teaching and helping each other. That’s what I would love to see.

  4. I think i would invest it in a pilot project of building states of the art universities in each and every country in Africa, offering free education up to PhD level i feel Africa is in great need of this, there are brilliant minds yet they are limited in terms of bringing out their full potential because of lack education, only a fraction of people access this basic need, others are disadvantaged because limited financial support.

  5. i would donate it to places around the country like animal rescue and just a little bit to by a house for my daughter a car for her then rest like i said to rescure and some to homeless

  6. I would create a drug rehab center, cant give out a lot of info online about it because I am going to do this with or without the 20 million.
it will be free but limited to small groups of pairs, once a person has reached a certain level and time of sobriety say maybe 6 months they will choose a person from a list to mentor for that persons first 6 months. it will be a small live in facility away from each persons home state.
the money would be invested in bonds that pay coupon to the facility.
I would ask for volunteers to help the patients to complete work and give gifts up to 1200 a month to those volunteers. I would also volunteer some because I cant commit to 40 hrs a week, and work my own small business which pays way more than 1200 a month.
