Who Are You? What Do You Do?

Everything revolves around your answers to the two questions every person you meet asks you, “Who are you? What do you do?”

When you’ve decided to take a stand or make your mark, you will be miles ahead doing the preliminary work of creating a platform to support yourself along the way, so prepare for exponential success.

Who Are You?

To start off, you must define who you are. Of course, you know who you are, but how are people who don’t know you going to know who you are and what you do? Lets stat with who you are.

Try to encapsulate in a few paragraphs your life as it has led until now. No need to go into great detail, but be certain to include key elements which helped develop you into the person you are today. Don’t worry if you think your life has been lackluster or unglamorous. If you think your life was awful, look at these famous celebrities who suffered prior to achieving their highest and best.

Be brief, but transparent. Enquiring people want to know you have a history, and who knows? Your story may be incredibly inspiring for someone else.

What Do You Do?

This is the second question anyone asks you, so be ready with a one-sentence answer about what you do which sets you apart from anyone else. But before you answer this question, you will be miles ahead, if you know your purpose, message, passion, and mission (PMPM). I know many people who were forever known as one thing because they were not congruent with their PMPM at the time they were visited by media exposure and lived to regret it.

Armed with a clear sense of who you are and what your PMPM is, you can go about the work of creating your congruent unique identity, which we refer to as your brand.

Let’s take a brief look at what this might look like. Let’s say, for instance, you are a man who was raised in an urban neighborhood where cats over-populated the area. But you admired the cats, not far from being homeless yourself, as a young child, you could imagine what it might be like to be a disadvantaged cat. You could relate to them, you had compassion for them.

Then, one day, you visited your grandmother in a nursing home, to you, she seemed to be in a crowded facility, yet alone, not unlike a cat. So, one day you brought a cat from the neighborhood, “Scruffy,” one that you had nurtured to health, and gifted it to your grandmother.

It changed your grandmother’s life and the two of them, the grandmother and Scruffy lived out their lives together in joyous harmony. This was when you realized what your mission in life was to be.

Who Are You?

I’m JAG, just a guy who was raised in a neighborhood overrun by cats, but I loved them and became known as the Man Who Saves Cats.

What Do You Do?

I’m a Feline Rescue Engineer and as the Man Who Saves Cats, I match disadvantaged cats with people whose lives can be enhanced by the love and affection a cat can give.

Add to these a simple 30-second elevator speech, which you have practiced and can quickly recite verbatim and you are almost there because you’ll want to make sure you…

Buy the Dot-Com

In my Branding Masters seminars, a key component of capitalizing on those brief moments in time when the planets align, and you have a few seconds to capitalize on your media exposure, the dot-com makes all the difference. So, having the dot com which represents who you are and what you do (if at all possible. If not, keep reinventing, until you can find an available and catchy dot-com) is so important.

Properly prepared and positioned you can fulfill your life’s mission with expanded efficacy by laying the proper groundwork. Then, if you ever find yourself in front of a microphone, for even the briefest of moments, you can take advantage of that moment in time to expand the reach of your mission, even more.

Even if you are a witness to an unrelated freak accident or disaster, the interviewer will ask those two questions. If your answer includes “Man Who Saves Cats” and “Feline Rescue Engineer” and you own those dot-coms, and have information on those websites delineating who you are, what your mission is, and how people can join you in your mission, you’ve grasped the ultimate brass ring.

If this happens to you, and you are prepared, people will mob rush

manwhosavescats.com
and
felinerescueengineer.com

You will see your web servers explode with web traffic, your email servers will smoke, and your phone will ring off-the-hook if you’ve taken these preliminary steps. This man could easily then launch the Ultimate Pet Rescue.

You can also take the necessary steps to increase your credibility as a source and expert in your field. See: Where is Your Credibility?

If you are prepared in this way, when good fortune is visited upon you, others will see it as an instant overnight success, as if lightning had struck, never knowing that you had carefully laid the groundwork to ensure your success in the event of such a lightning strike.

Elsewise, you will have been just another nameless face on the TV, forever remembering that moment, when had you been prepared, could have made all the difference in the world. These moments are very difficult, if not impossible, to recreate.

When lightning strikes will you be ready?

Finding Peace in Chaos

You can’t help but see our world is drowning in negativity and chaos. Any time you expose yourself to media you can’t help but exposed yourself to the worst possible state of the human condition. Exposing yourself to this barrage of bad news can cause your personal vibration to tank, reaching unfathomable depths. Any hope of finding peace in chaos seems so far off, if not impossible.

These negative feelings which include floods of sadness and depression prevent your expansion and submitting yourself to anger or rage hinders your evolution. This results in feeling helpless and feeling as though you are a hapless victim of life as the fear of possibly not making it though another day without facing negativity continues to grow.

The world is based on non-sustainable processes which lead to preventing decline in the human condition. To accelerate powerful agendas and hinder your potential evolution, you must believe that the world is in a difficult state, and the best that you can hope for is a mediocre life in a world where life is so hard and accepting your position within the rat race as it looks as if the rest of the world is in chaotic deterioration and destruction all around you.

So what can you do to get on the other side of the chaos?

One effective action you can take is to remove yourself from the equation. You can stop exposing yourself to these low vibrational states simply by intravenous feed of the media. You are being force-fed this unfathomable negativity, but you have complete control of it. All you have to do is to stop the feed, to stop participating by refusing to expose yourself to it.

Try to do this in private and do not boast about your decision to unplug the dysfunction, because society has trained your peers to police your participation. They will name-call, berate you and accuse you of ignorance to get you to cease your media hiatus. Nonetheless, sometimes stopping the bombardment of the negative feeds is the only way to gain enough emotional balance to attempt other ways of finding peace in chaos.

The good news is that there are other tactics available to all of us that are keys to

Finding Peace in Chaos

First, realizing that the decline of the world as we know it is a major key to the evolutionary process is invaluable. In order for our country and the world to move to the next step of our evolution as a species and the planet we inhabit, the world must fail as it is, as a new, more enlightened, world can emerge. In this respect, the decline of our current model of civilization is necessary for us to create a better world.

Anticipate Evolution

In this respect, understanding that the powers which exert every possible resource to control us, gives us hope that a new way of abundant living, being, growing, expanding and enlightenment is coming, and you can play an active part in this change.

Every time you see, hear, witness or are exposed to something bad, this is a clear indication that something good is coming. Anticipate the positive evolution is taking place and know this process requires change. Change can be extremely painful, unflattering or hard to understand and sometimes something must be destroyed before it can be replaced with something good.

If you feel like the world is in a horrible state, you can refocus your attention to find goodness and mercy everywhere you look. You can’t see it if your view is obscured by the constant barrage of negativity.

Seek Goodness

Refocus your attention from the active decline of the current system and turn it towards those things which are good. Your diligence and purposefully focusing on seeking out the good things that are happening all around you, and I promise you, if you look for love, you will find it. Love exists all around us, just as also you can find all the freedom, compassion and forgiveness all around you, if you seek out manifestations of positivity you will be rewarded. In the unveiling and witnessing that even amidst the chaos, there is a world of good in abundance brings you a sense of hope and peace.

Create a perpetual state of positivity by finding ways to immerse yourself in a sea of all things good. It really is a choice, you can channel surf the television and complain about how bad things are, or you could turn it off. All media is not bad. There are good things you can expose yourself to, though it may take some effort to find positive media outlets which only feed your positive outlook on life and all the good things this life has to offer.

Be Gracious

Focus on being thankful for all the good things in life, instead of life’s injustices or shortfalls and adopt a state of gracious gratitude for all life’s blessings. If you do this, you will begin to find yourself finding more things to be grateful for.

Social Media

If you’re spending a great deal of time plugged in to social media, this is likely counterproductive due to first imposing the false belief that this is neutral media exposure. This is where it starts as you think that it is a safe use of your available time, until one day you awaken from the haze to realize the prevalence of negativity. Social media can keep you inactive or complacent in creating a better life for yourself.

Instead, look for other forms of inspirational media which resonates with you that promote a more positive outlook, such as books or movies and you will find your spirit lifting in the presence of that which is good.

Explore Nature

Explore the creation which exists all around you. You might find a safe walk in the wilderness, relaxing by the lake, watching to waves caress the seashore, listening to and feeding (if not prohibited by law) the birds, taking a hike in nature. She has so much she wants to share with you, but you will never be able to see it, if you do not venture out and give her the opportunity to bless you with the natural beauty which is ever at your beck and call.

Don’t Believe Anything

You know better now. Once you believed in childhood ideals which later in life we found out that these things were not true. Truth and what you believe in is subject to change upon exposure to new information of your own personal growth and expansion. Be open to having your paradigms shift as you grow and change your perspective. Often things are not actually as they appear in life, especially when they are filtered by corporate media outlets. Be smart and responsible for what you are exposed to and how you interpret it.

Follow Your Feelings

If you are exposed to something in the media that does not resonate with that highest and best part of you, pull the plug. And if something enrages you, do not succumb to that negativity. Instead be that you’re being summoned to respond and offer a positive alternative to that which embroils your gumption.

See the Opportunity

Bad things are an opportunity for you to do something good. You can support an organization, volunteer or start a movement yourself that provides solution to whatever irks you.

Stop – Start – Be

Stop being a victim, start finding the love, and if you’re so inspired be the change.

Music and Your Health

You know the effects music has on your emotional state. A particular song can immediately take you back in time, back to a time when life was easier, or worse, depending on the song. Music is a powerful mood enhancer. It has the power to make you happy, sad, moody, depressed, all in a moment.

So the question is,
What kind of music do you listen to?

music-and-your-health-how-music-affects-your-body

Did you know the music you listen to not only affects your mental status but also your physical status?

Music is a powerful medium sending waves of energy that not only tantalizes the ears and brain but permeates every cell of the human body. In this regard, music can be used as a potent therapeutic modality, as effective as any drug.

As we know, drugs can soothe, potentially heal or breakdown individual physiological systems. They can enhance ones biological state or cause the end of life altogether.

If you are experiencing a sense of not being well, depressed, lethargic, experiencing physiological pain or bio mechanical deterioration, you might consider looking at the kind of music you are in the habit of listening to.

Be aware that changing the type or style of music you are listening to may not be easy as your body may have a connection to the music which maintains its level of deterioration so much that your physiology is actually dependent on it for survival. It is not unlike being addicted to any other type of powerful drug.

Don’t be surprised to find that you are addicted to particular songs or music, and if you’re contemplating a change, it can be as uncomfortable (or even painful) to embrace a new, more healthy, supportive and healing style of music that can actually create improved and sustained health, wellness and happiness.

Changing the music that you listen to temporarily can have a healing effect on both the mind and body, but just as in other treatment models, once you return to our old habits, eating, lack of exercise, improper nourishment or revert to use of certain drugs, the mind and body begin to their previous state of deterioration.

It’s the old GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) conundrum. You, all your systems including your body, your mind and that part of you which is outside of your comprehension, often referred to as spirit or soul, everything combined can only reflect that which you put into it for nourishment.

If you are feeding yourself with continual helpings of depressing media, it is no surprise that depression begins to permeate your mind sending signals of degeneration throughout the cells of your body, causing inner physiological structures to breakdown or fail.

The same can be said for other states of mind that are experienced by heavy doses of particular types and styles of music.

And this phenomenon is not only limited to music, as it applies to the other media we expose ourselves to, also. The books and periodicals we read, the television programming and movies that we watch, etc…

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not passing judgment or expecting to say that anything is better for you than any other thing. This is entirely up to you, it is an individual consideration. I am not condemning any type or style of media, only suggesting that you might consider pondering the idea that the media to which you expose yourself to may be reflected by your psychological and physiological state of being, particularly if you are not feeling well.

There is an awakening taking place among people who are starting to understand how our bodies reflect what we put in them. We are taking note of the types of foods that we eat, becoming more particular about ingredients and developing a preference for non-GMO-type food substances. We are developing a knowingness that certain foods are not good for us and other more natural nutrients and supplements are good for us and enhance our state of being.

hot-dog-manI would not berate someone for eating a hot dog. In fact, I would defend your right to eat a hot dog, or live on nothing more than hot dogs, if you like.

Yes, I was in line behind the hot-dog-man at the supermarket with a basket full of 56 packs of hot dogs that were on sale. When the cashier asked if he was having a big barbeque party, he went on to discuss how it’s all that he eats for breakfast, lunch, dinner and for snacks. While it did not seem appealing to me, he was exercising his choice. Bravo (Ugh).

I believe it will not be long, and we – as a global community – will begin to develop a particular taste for a new genre of music that will enhance our state of being, promoting a state of wellbeing, happiness, good health and longevity.

Or not.
