How Many Funerals Will I Attend Before DIY Remedies Gain Credibility?

I’ve reached a point in my life where attending funerals has become disturbingly frequent. These aren’t the funerals of strangers or distant acquaintances; these are friends—people I’ve loved, laughed with, and shared life’s journey. They’re not dying of old age; they’re succumbing to diseases that others in different parts of the world have managed to defeat. It’s a heart-wrenching irony that I can’t seem to shake: how many more funerals will I have to attend before the credibility of do-it-yourself remedies reaches the masses or, at the very least, the mass media?

Throughout my life, without any particular effort, I’ve come across numerous stories of people who have intentionally defeated diseases that my friends are dying from. These diseases, deemed “incurable” by the FDA and AMA, seem to hold a terrifying grip on the American consciousness. Yet, in other countries, these same diseases are met with a different approach—one that often leads to remission, healing, and hope.

Some of the people I know have ventured beyond American borders, seeking treatment modalities that are illegal in the USA. They return home disease-free, rejuvenated, and often with a newfound passion for alternative healing methods. They delve into herbal remedies, ancient practices, and medical wisdom predating the 1900s. Their lives are transformed—not just by the absence of disease but by a holistic shift in how they live, eat, and approach health.

Those who don’t leave the USA embark on a different journey. They begin with Google, sifting through the digital noise in search of answers, only to become increasingly frustrated by the filtered, censored results. It’s no secret that Google, once a beacon of information freedom, has succumbed to the pressures of the medical industry and the powers that be. And so, these seekers turn to alternatives like DuckDuckGo, digging deeper into the underground world of alternative therapies. Many emerge victorious, eradicating their diseases for a fraction of the cost—without conventional treatments’ life-draining side effects.

Meanwhile, I watch as friends I care about subject themselves to the grueling, often dangerous, and poison-laden regimens prescribed by the American medical system. These treatments, designed to manage symptoms rather than cure the disease, drain the life out of them. And all too often, the cause of death isn’t the disease itself but the treatment. The medical money machine behind this system is staggering, with profits prioritized over people’s lives.

My dying friends often speak with pride about the “best doctors,” “best insurance,” and “best treatments” they have access to. They boast about the astronomical costs of their care, believing they’re getting the best possible deal, all while the system quietly profits from their suffering. They’re so utterly convinced that this is the only path to follow. They cannot hear me when I try to share the alternatives with them. Their minds are closed, locked in a belief system that leaves me preparing for yet another funeral.

It’s a grievous disservice that in other countries, people have the choice not to die from these diseases—without the threat of imprisonment or the fear that their doctors will lose their licenses for offering natural alternatives. Here, in the land of the free, the freedom to choose life-saving, natural treatments is stifled by regulations, fear, and ignorance.

If you’re like me and desperately want to talk to your friends about natural alternatives, even if they might not be open to the idea, here are some tips that might help:

    1. Lead With Love and Empathy: Acknowledge their fear and the seriousness of their condition. Lovingly, let them know you understand their concerns and that you’re not trying to downplay the severity of their situation.
    2. Share Stories: Sometimes, a reliable source’s personal story or case study can open a dialogue. Share success stories of people who have tried alternative treatments and found relief.
    3. Offer Information, Not Advice: People can be defensive about their health choices. Instead of telling them what to do (this causes them to shut down any potential for hearing anything that follows), compassionately offer them information and leave it up to them to explore further.
    4. Suggest Complementary Therapies: Instead of presenting alternatives as a replacement, suggest them as complementary to their current treatment. This can make the idea less threatening and more acceptable.
    5. Be Patient: Changing deeply ingrained beliefs takes time. It sounds preposterous when it feels like time is of the essence – and it may be. Plant the seed, but don’t expect immediate results. Be there for them as a supportive friend, regardless of their choice.
    6. Introduce Them to Holistic Practitioners: If they’re open, introduce them to a holistic practitioner who can provide a different perspective on their condition and potential treatments.
    7. Focus on Prevention: Sometimes, it’s easier to start a conversation about maintaining health rather than curing disease. Discuss the benefits of natural remedies in strengthening the immune system and preventing illness.

The road to acceptance of natural and alternative remedies is long and fraught with obstacles. But for the sake of those we love, we must keep trying. Each conversation, each shared story, and each piece of information is a step toward a future where fewer premature funerals are necessary.

Pharmaceuticals vs Natural Herbal Remedies

The third-largest cause of death in the USA is medicine and medical practitioners, in the shadow of heart disease and cancer, and if the truth were known, the medical and pharmaceutical sciences and the practitioners thereof would be revealed as the number one cause of death.

Not all pharmaceuticals are good for you. In fact, many are killing unwitting Americans while medical doctors and staff collude with and assist the industry to extract as much capital as possible from your estate (or subsidized medical resources) before your pulse finally stops.

Many legally prescribed medications have a dark side and are far more dangerous than the pharmaceutical companies would like you to know. Some of these could include benzodiazepines (Klonopin, Valium, Xanax). Then there are the anticoagulants (Heparin, Warfarin, Xarelto).

Other potentially dangerous prescription medications include antidepressants (Cymbalta, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Zoloft), and patented anti-hypertensives (Cardura, Hytrin, Minipress). Clozapine is an antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia, not to forget Semi-Synthetic Opioids (OxyContin, Percocet, Vicodin) which are generally used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Thanks to lawsuits against the pharmaceutical companies, we now know that they are so committed to profiting greatly off an insignificant public that they will falsify and create medical studies and pay doctors to put their name(s) on the studies to get them published, in many cases with the full knowledge that their new drug(s) have potentially deadly side effects.

A many as 10 percent of all published reports regarding new drugs are written by the drug manufacturers who pay doctor(s) to use their names on the reports when the doctors named had little or nothing to do with the study.

More than 60% of all academic studies are financed by the drug manufacturers, who have been known to alter the data prior to submitting the results.

The most prominent example of the insatiable greed of Big Pharma is Merck’s Vioxx debacle, where they were likely responsible for the deaths of 500,000 Americans over the age of 65, but gladly paid 4.85 billion dollars for killing 3,468 seniors, after enjoying a 5-year run of selling the aspirin replacement that caused heart attacks and strokes.

Having to pay a negotiable percentage of the revenue from the lethal painkiller seems like a small price to pay, an acceptable cost of doing business in the pharmaceutical industry where you take the good with the bad and still come out on top.

Other “legal” drugs that suffered a fate similar to Vioxx include Risperdal, Seroquel, Zyprexa, and Hormone Replacement Therapy, among others, which makes you wonder about the other medications that we see promoted on TV and in the media with the laundry list of side effects that may include death in some people (a possible side effect of manufacturing patented prescription medications).

If that’s not enough, there are other prescription medications, like the statin family available under the names of atorvastatin (Lipitor), fluvastatin (Lescol XL), lovastatin (Altoprev), pitavastatin (Livalo), pravastatin (Pravachol), rosuvastatin (Crestor, Ezallor) and simvastatin (Zocor, FloLipid), which tout efficacy in the lowering of cholesterol and preventing heart attacks, but the side effects can cause crippling muscle pain, type 2 diabetes, memory loss, confusion, or rhabdomyolysis leading to liver damage, kidney failure, and death. Stop taking the statins, and the side effects fade away.

Before the advent of all this medical profiteering, we tended to our needs using natural substances from Mother Earth. These primitive methods of healing were all placed here with us, to help alleviate pain and heal us, her inhabitants, from every ailment.

They are so effective that Big Pharma models their patented medications after them, like aspirin. Aspirin was fashioned after a pain-relieving compound found in the bark of a willow tree.

Granted, natural remedies have also seen their share of darkness as “snake oil salesmen” used to promise the miraculous healing capabilities of herbal substances for money.

Nonetheless, there are some herbal remedies that have eared their right to compete with the most high-tech patented pharmaceuticals. One such herb is the most prescribed medication in Germany, Ginkgo Biloba for its supremacy in improving memory and other cognitive functions, in the USA, Ginkgo is not as well respected among the medical community. In Germany, medical students are obligated to study herbal alternatives, if even only rudimentarily (not so in the United States).

A few other herbal remedies have been proven to be as effective or even better than their patented prescription imitators, and they have survived and been proven in clinical trials to be the real deal. Besides Ginkgo, the top “proven” herbal supplements are:

  1. Black Cohosh – Helps with the effects of menopause
  2. Chestnut – (horse chestnut) Improves poor blood circulation in legs (varicose veins)
  3. Devil’s Claw – Anti-inflammatory and helps with joint pain
  4. Garlic – Reduces cholesterol and lowers blood pressure
  5. Hawthorne – Helps some heart conditions
  6. Saw Palmetto – Helps with men’s enlarged prostate, better urination
  7. St. John’s Wort – For mild or moderate depression

And there are many other noteworthy natural herbal remedies worth their weight in complementary alternative medicine (CAM) with fewer side-effects than pharmaceuticals, but without the clout of clinical trials to back them up.

The ongoing battle between Big Pharma and Mother Nature continues. And no one here is failing to admire the medical community for all the good they do in the world, but this dark side of pharmaceutical companies is causing the faith of patients to waver.

The smart thing to do is to practice due diligence in all medical interventions and take responsibility for your own care. You decide what is best for you.

Do not be the next casualty of being an uninformed patient.

Consider having two doctors, a medical doctor, and a holistic professional, consulting with both before committing to any prescribed medication, do some research on your own, then make your own educated decision.

Your life may depend on it.

Alternative Medicine and Natural Remedies

I know this is a tender subject. When you talk about alternative medicine and natural remedies, people start to roll their eyes and imagine you dancing with a rattle in a grass skirt, like some kind of cartoon witch doctor. A toast to the powers that be responsible for brainwashing the general population, hat’s off to a job well done. We’ve all been duped and we don’t even know. That is unless you do know…

If you do know, maybe you’re like me and you’ve seen in impact or natural holistic health modalities which embrace the idea of natural medicine as an alternative to patented designer prescription medications.

As a matter of fact, I’ve witnessed natural cures (I realize I’m not qualified to use the word, “cure,”) using simple techniques and herbal medicine that have far-surpassed whatever promises the medical community might make.

I’ve known many people who were given six months to live. For those who simply accepted their dire diagnosis, they passed away within a year.

For the others who sought to fight the doctor’s death sentence, with alternative medicine and natural remedies, guess what? You guessed it, and something deep inside you knows it’s true. They are all living their lives fully and joyously.

What do the doctors have to say about this when they are confronted by their self-healing now healthy beyond belief patients? They all have this response down pat, “It’s either a misdiagnosis or a miracle.”

There is nothing miraculous about the healing of themselves, except for this:

The miracle of the human body to heal itself while accelerating natural healing with what mother nature has provided for us. Our planet and its inhabitants are perfectly matched and attuned to work in concert for our highest and best outcome.

Everything you could possibly need was placed here on earth before we were put here. We experience life in the most comprehensive closed system, which is in itself is one of the most amazing miracles, confounding the highest thinkers of time since our introduction to this planet.

Nothing is more natural than having the ability to heal yourself; this is what your body was designed for.

If this is true (and you know it is), then why is it illegal to honestly tell your story? There are people who have boldly proclaimed the power of natural healing and natural cures. Where are they now?

The answer is so impossible to imagine that I won’t even attempt to offer any suggestions. Suffice it to say, in general, they do not continue their professing natural cures for very long until their voice slowly fades into the confusion of obscurity.

I have long been a supporter of natural healing, studied and practiced in various areas of alternative health care, though this is not the main focus of my personal calling. I was first so impressed early in my ministerial career, at how effective prayer was in initiating spontaneous healing, this sparked my interest in natural healing.

And believe me, if you’re seeking out natural remedies or an active participation in holistic health, consider spirituality as part of the comprehensive therapeutic approach. A little belief goes a long way. The integration and calling upon a higher power can make all the difference.

If we can agree that all disease affects three separate but unified parts of us, our body, our mind and our soul, then neglecting the soul can hinder your healing and wellness significantly.

Can natural healing be accomplished without spiritual integration? Absolutely, but the results are far greater and more rapid with your heart connected to the source of all life.

If you think you’re ready to take responsibility for your own health, the good news is, Google is a good repository for the otherwise hidden jewels for natural remedies. You can pretty much find anything you could possibly think of, though much of the information is anecdotal, and you will find a lot of people swearing that considering any of these natural cures is dangerous, if not lethal.

Be smart about it. Exercise your due diligence and see what dies. If you’ve been given six months to live, it may not be you, it might be your belief in what you’ve been trained to believe about health and medicine.
