Motivation What Drives You

You know you want your life to get better, but you just can seem to follow through with the “doing what it takes” due to lack of motivation. What drives you? Knowing your inner source of motivation (or an exterior source would work as well) is the first step to ramping up your tendency to keep up your forward-moving momentum in getting to where you want to be, or having everything your heart desires.

Motivation What Drives You

What are the sources of your motivation? What drives you?

You are obviously moving through life with some degree of motivation right now. It might not be getting you to where you want to be or the things that you want out of this life, but you’ve made it this far in your life, and you’re still managing to get up and “do life.” Why?

What motivates you to get up every day?

If you’re working, you’re probably doing what you do because you feel like you have to, to pay the bills, to feel worthy enough to live the life you’re living, at whatever station you’re living on our planet.

In most cases of people who are knee-deep in working just to get by or survive, they have very little resources leftover to pursue their purpose, message, passion, and mission.

All of us have a natural inclination to be motivated to do anything, like, money, pleasure, satisfaction, success, helping and caring for others, feeling of accomplishment, looking good to others, making your parents proud of you, or any of the many things that motivate and drive us to do the things we do.

Once you’ve determined that thing that is the basis of your motivation, what drives you can be manipulated to feed you with enough energy to move you forward. Just keep reminding yourself of it. For instance, if you are driven by making your parents proud of you, you could put a note on your mirror, a notecard in your pocket, put a sticker on your phone, all reminders that “I want to make my parents proud of me.”

When you see these reminders, ask yourself, “What can I do right now to make my parents proud of me.” And do something. Even if it’s just imagining yourself doing something that would make your parents proud. This will help fuel your motivation to do what you want to do.

While you are using your imagination, keep in mind that your imagination, as powerful as it is, may not translate well to the 3D world where we live and breathe today. Following up on your imagining what you could do with some inspired action, creates exponential powerful results transmitting powerfully through your life and your world.

People often refer to me as a motivational speaker, which does not set very well with me, because if I’ve learned anything in my practice over the years, it’s that you (I) can’t motivate anybody. I mean, you could motivate someone to do something, like you could bribe them, pay them, promise to love them, threaten them or their family, and you could motivate them to do a thing, but it will not last for long.

Admittedly though, I do tend to attract people who are motivated, the movers and shakers in the world. I think that’s what confuses people. But the truth is, I don’t motivate anybody, but I do work with motivated people who are highly driven to achieve their highest and best.

There are people who have flipped this whole idea of working for a living into a more empowering positive flow of energy by learning to love what they do for work, or alternatively, change what they do so that they are doing what they love, and their whole life changes to meet the new frequency of their lifestyle.

Even if you are highly respected in your profession, you may not be achieving a sense of genuine satisfaction from what you are doing every day. Even if you are highly paid, if you are not fulfilling the reason for being, the reason you came to this life in the first place.

Once you realize this, you can tap into energetic resources from the source of all life, to live a better life, your best life and make the world a better place.

When you do this, your life shifts from spinning your wheels to just get by or keep up with the Joneses. Instead, you start living an abundant life, fulfilling your life’s calling, and enjoying all the best things this life has to offer.

You may have tried to achieve this feeling by purchasing things that you want, and you already know that as much as it satisfies to buy what you want, that feeling good feeling doesn’t last so long.

The alternative is to live your life full-on, rich in your purpose, message, passion, and mission, attracting and manifesting everything that you want out of this abundant vibration of living your life as following your sacred calling. If you are doing this, there is no other more satisfying manner of living your life.

Let’s Do This Motivation

You want to, you get the best ideas, even get started on making your dream come true then, well, your best intentions sort of peter-out. What do you do then? Looking for some ideas to help you get back in the game?

Sometimes, just the need to get ‘er done is enough to get you through if your integrity is high and you are in the habit of meeting every deadline in your life, no matter what. If you’re not that self-abusive, you might need to find another way to rustle up some motivation to get you through.

You can look for keywords and catch phrases that get you over the hump. There are lots of quotes which you might find inspirational, search google and find the ones that resonate with you and your project. Review or recite them when your motivation needs a little boost, here and there.

Guilt can be a good motivator. When people depend on you, you might be able to find the wherewithal to follow through with a high sense of obligation to others.

Your sense of pride and integrity might be enough. In fact, many people’s humble sense of pride, the being able to set back and confidently ask yourself, “Did I do that?” Yeah, you did, and you’re very heroic in your effort. Well done, you can congratulate yourself for a job well done, and you pushed through even when the going got rough.

Want to make the world a better place? Your sense of making a contribution, to offer something meaningful for the greater good is an incredible motivation for doing the work necessary to have an impact and make a difference. If your project is congruent with performing your life’s work or accomplishing your life’s mission. Leaving something behind for future generations, having something significant to add to your resume, and possibly be a highlight of your eulogy.

A mastermind group could be huge, and many people report the mastermind being the secret weapon of their success tactics, alternatively any type of group which supports you and your project can help you get over the hump.

Intimidation can also be very motivational. If someone told you that you would never amount to anything, and you know that if you did this thing it would prove them wrong, or even a dare or a bet could be enough to keep you going. Success is the best revenge.

The threat of an undesirable alternative might get you from here to where you want to be. Like, considering what life might be like if you wouldn’t have taken this challenge or embarked upon this particular journey. What if you lost your job, had to take a demotion, got passed up for a promotion, had to take your old job back, or had to learn a new trade?

Setting small goals for mini milestones and achieving them along the way can be extremely motivational and keep you moving forward.

If you’re having a tough time imagining what it would be like to make it through this project to completion, try seeing it in your mind’s eye. Visualization is a powerful motivational tool, to fully see you on the other side of anything that might stand in your way can help give you the oomph you need to make it through.

If you’ve been down this road before and you’ve bailed or failed the last time you tried to put yourself out there, learning from mistakes you’ve made in the in the past can make you more determined not to give in to weaknesses or give you the ability to find more creative solutions this time around.

Review and count your wins. You’ve faced challenges before and made it to the other side, lots of times. Reviewing your success when the going gets rough, can make all the difference, reminding you about how good you are at breaking through.

You might be your own worst enemy unintentionally sabotaging your own success, getting in the way, or making things harder than they need to be. Lighten up, get a second opinion, ask for help, and outsource. You can do this.

Let’s get something done.

Put the Sexy in Success

In the event that you’d like to make a contribution to your community to help make the world a better place, you might need to find ways to maximize your potential. You will need to find your source of motivation and learn to focus on what it is that you’d like to achieve.

Its fairly easy to imagine the endgame, because you pretty much know what you’d like your contribution to look like, but how do you get there from here? Especially with all the distractions that you face every day. You have a constant barrage of media, devices and the ongoing struggles of life to deal with. How could you ever find the time for the doingness necessary to get something done for the greater good?

First of all, your brain is preoccupied with the needs of your body, and will seek to get your needs satisfied first, and it doesn’t always have your best interests at heart. The struggle for survival, and the potential worrying about it, is one of its primary functions, followed by finding things that feel good, or avoid pain.

Oh, your mind means well, it knows that watching TV feels better than doing homework, a mocha tastes better than lemon water, shopping is more fun than exercising, interacting on social media is better than networking, cake tastes better than raw veggies, and YouTube videos are more entertaining than journaling.

That’s why it’s going to take a conscious effort, care and diligence to get you from where you are to where you want to be. How can you possibly take control of your body and mind stuck in the rapid flow of life’s torrential stream?

Your mind sees anything that resembles work as drudgery. It sees no value in working your day job, except that it is necessary for survival. It will allow you to do what you need to do, but is keenly aware of the approaching lunch breaks or the final tick of the clock indicating that this day is finally over.

You’re going to have to find ways to convince your mind that the things you want to accomplish are meaningful and important enough to make the sacrifices necessary to get some done. Otherwise, the things you want to do to serve the greater community are going to look like more work.

Put the Sexy in Success

What does your mind find gratifying? Entertainment, activities that make you feel good, decorating or finding beauty in your home or surroundings, getting admiration from the opposite sex, and being recognized for doing something good or meaningful, are probably on the top of your list.

Finding ways to connect what you want to accomplish to those things that already fire off those pleasurable synapses in your brain will persuade your mind to support what it is that you want to do.

Don’t allow what you must do to make it happen to look like work. Work is boring. Instead, find ways to make working toward your goal empowering, gorgeous, sexy and delicious. Know that doing the work that is necessary to get from here will give you a great sense of accomplishment, establishing your authority and recognition for your invaluable contribution.

An excellent tool you can use to bridge the gap between here and there is found in something that only we have as humans on this planet, and that is the ability to visualize anything we want using our imagination. For instance, if you were to imagine cutting a lemon in half and taking a big bite out of the center of that imaginary lemon, you’re probably going to find yourself salivating. But there is no lemon. It’s all in your mind. But your visualization of it made your body react as if it was happening in real life.

You can use this same technique to find motivation for accomplishing the necessary steps to achieve your goals and ultimately make the world a better place. Your mind is a powerful manifestation machine and its natural inclination to move away from what you don’t want and toward what makes you feel good, is a tool you can use for your benefit.

Using the power of your mind to visualize you doing the things you must do as being beautiful, sexy, and any other manifestation that makes you feel amazing, even orgasmic, can do the trick. If you can associate doing the things you need to do with the best, most amazing feelings you can imagine, will help motivate you and convince your mind that this is not work, at least not in the mundane, daily grind sense. No this is exciting and the rewards are incredible.

Our head can also wrap its mind around the idea of sacrificing for a period of time to achieve an excellent result later. Like dieting or working out at the gym three times a week (or more) to be more appealing to the opposite sex. You might not like it, but your mind might be willing to make the sacrifice in the interim to achieve the payoff later. As soon as you start to see the results (the extra attention), the easier it is to keep going.

So, you can do the same thing using the same donkey-and-carrot visualization and apply it to your efforts to make your contribution to the planet.

Develop a vision of you achieving your highest and best and see in your mind’s eye the impact having accomplished all that you want to do has had on the world. See and feel the gratitude of others you have blessed with your efforts. You, no doubt, can think of people who have made a significant contribution by doing something (even small but) significant that has had huge impact on society (like refusing to sit in the back of the bus), and they were recognized for making a difference.

See yourself as being recognized and remembered for your contribution.

When you start to sense feeling like whatever you’re doing to accomplish your goals is boring or feeling like work, find ways to connect the dots with the pleasure centers of your brain and make it as exhilarating as possible, and find and embrace the passion and joy inside as you achieve your highest and best and make the world a better place.

Stars and Stripes Motivation Fuel

In my work with people and their businesses to increase their prospects in life, I find the underlying motivations for increasing their market share has a long reaching impact on their potential success and sustained longevity in a particular marketplace.

Stars and Stripes

They can be basically represented by two categories, Stars: those who are driven by a desire to achieve fame and/or fortune and alternatively, Stripes: those who are driven by a deep sense of purpose and/or desire to disseminate information, skills, techniques or insights that may significantly impact our planet or its inhabitants.

Stars are those who will do anything to raise their status whether in terms of celebrity or increased cash flow or financial status.

Stripes are compelled or inspired to help others and/or make the world a better place. They would serve the greater good or community regardless of recompense.

All personality types and economic conditions are represented in both categories of Stars and Stripes.

The only significant difference is found within the heart of the individual which fuels the fire of desire.

There are basically two types of fuel that powers the engine enabling a person to take quantitative action toward establishing a particular goal. One is ego-centric, while the other is soul-centered in nature.

The ego-centric fuel burns brightly for the shining Stars but does not sustain power for long requiring more fuel to be added to the motivational furnace. Ego-centric fuel originates from outside the body. It must be measured and obtained from exterior sources, such as the response from, or comparison to, others.

The soul-centered fuel which powers the Stripes comes from within, it may not burn as brightly but sustains a consistent flow of energy that is both efficient and sustainable over long periods of time. Although approval and support from others may increase the ultimate effectiveness of the impact of Stripes, it is unnecessary for sustainable results.

While Stars may leave behind a decent degree of recognition or in the best case scenarios a significant inheritance, Stripes leave behind a legacy and an aura of having made the world a better place, even if only in some small way and may also have acquired substantial wealth doing so.

We may often think that money is the result of hard work or the ability to take from others to achieve a desired result, but money also seems to come to those who are congruent with their sense of purpose and service with a pure heart, if they are open to the idea of receiving. In terms of abundance or the Law of Attraction, the process is effective if worked properly regardless of whether you are a Star or Stripe.

The main difference between Stars and Stripes comes down to the way they feel about what they do.

Stars tend to experience more anxiety and are driven by measuring themselves in comparison to the competition. Always measuring their level of fame or success which may (or may not) sustain the power required for pushing through boundaries with little more than brute strength, leaving one feeling exhausted in trying times.

Stripes experience more peace, a sense of losing track of time because they love what they do, as they focus their efforts to achieve the results they are so compelled to pursue. While they, too, may face obstacles and challenges they keep moving forward with a sense of doing the right thing, though they may tire and reward themselves with a bit of relaxation to regain their composure.

Are you among the Stars or Stripes?
