Embracing the Love of Jesus Mindset: Compassionate Inclusion

It is often impressed upon my heart that I yearn for the children of God to awaken to the extraordinary charge we have been given to love our fellow man, exercising a mindset rooted in love, compassion, and understanding. This perspective, which I call the Love of Jesus Mindset, encourages us to embrace all people and possibilities, recognizing that we are all children of God at different levels of understanding. It challenges us to love and respect others where they are, mirroring the respect and love we expect for ourselves.

Our world is bathed in negativity, and for those inclined to subscribe to the idea, this a frequency that stems from the belief that Satan and the fallen angels have dominion over our planet and its inhabitants (Ephesians 6:12). This default setting can make us prone to selfishness, superiority, and judgment. However, as Christians, our battle is not against people but against the principalities and powers that seek to separate us from one another.

The true challenge is to resist the urge to judge or feel superior to those who think differently from us. Instead, we should embrace them and love them for their beliefs, recognizing that we are all doing the best we can with what we have (Matthew 7:1-2).

The Love of Jesus Mindset teaches us that every individual is worthy of love and respect, regardless of their beliefs or actions. Jesus’ sacrifice was made for all humanity (John 3:16), and it is not our place to judge who is deserving of God’s love. Our role is to extend love and compassion, even to those who may seem unlovable (Luke 6:35-36).

Consider the case of those who worship Satan. While their beliefs may differ significantly from ours, Jesus died for them too. Loving them and praying for them aligns with our purpose as Christians. We trust that God is in charge of dealing with them, not us (Romans 12:19-21). In this extreme example, being in Satan’s service need not be a life-long sentence. Even so, it is God’s right to deal with this scenario, not ours.

Governments and societal structures often manipulate us, encouraging separation and division for their own gain. They exploit the default setting of negativity to justify actions that go against Jesus’ teachings. But we must remember that Jesus came to unite us, not to divide us (John 17:21).

Embracing the Love of Jesus Mindset involves recognizing these manipulations and choosing a path of love and unity. By refusing to succumb to the pressures of separation and judgment, we honor Jesus’s sacrifice for us all (Galatians 3:28).

Shifting to a Love of Jesus Mindset

Here are seven practical steps to help you adopt a more loving and inclusive mindset:

  1. Pray for Others: Include those you find challenging to love in your prayers. Ask God to bless and guide them, recognizing that we are all on a journey of growth and understanding (Matthew 5:44).
  2. Extend Grace and Forgiveness: Just as Jesus extends grace to us, offer forgiveness and understanding to those who may have wronged you or hold different beliefs (Ephesians 4:32).
  3. Engage in Active Listening: Listen with an open heart and mind when interacting with others. Seek to understand their perspectives without immediately forming judgments (James 1:19).
  4. Cultivate Empathy: Put yourself in others’ shoes and try to understand their experiences and challenges. This empathy can foster a deeper connection and appreciation for our shared humanity (Colossians 3:12).
  5. Practice Self-Reflection: Regularly reflect on your thoughts and actions. Are they aligned with the principles of love and compassion? Acknowledge any biases or judgments and work to overcome them (Psalm 139:23-24).
  6. Build Bridges: Actively seek opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds and belief systems. Engage in conversations that promote mutual respect and understanding (Romans 12:16).
  7. Be a Beacon of Love: Let your actions reflect the love of Jesus. Serve your community, offer kindness to strangers, and be a source of positivity and hope (Matthew 5:14-16).

Christian Objections to the Love of Jesus Mindset

Objection Response
“But we are not to mix with the unrighteous.” While it’s true that we are called to be set apart, Jesus Himself spent time with sinners and the marginalized (Matthew 9:10-13). He demonstrated that we can maintain our values while extending love and compassion to all people.
“God hates sin.” Yes, God hates sin, but He loves sinners (John 3:16). Jesus’ mission was to seek and save the lost, offering them a path to redemption through love and grace (Luke 19:10). Our role is to reflect that love helping others find their way to God.
“Aren’t we supposed to judge others?” Jesus teaches us not to judge others but to focus on our own spiritual growth (Matthew 7:1-5). We are called to discern right from wrong, but judgment is reserved for God alone. Instead, we should guide others with love and humility.
“We must protect ourselves from false beliefs.” Rather than isolating ourselves, we should engage with others respectfully and confidently in our faith (1 Peter 3:15). By showing love and understanding, we can create opportunities for dialogue and share the message of Jesus with those who differ.
“Separation ensures purity.” True purity comes from the heart and is not achieved through separation (Titus 1:15). Jesus prayed for unity among believers and for us to be in the world, but not of it, shining as lights in the darkness (John 17:15-18).
“Associating with sinners could lead us astray.” Our faith is strengthened when we rely on God and support each other in the community. Jesus’ presence among sinners was transformative; He brought healing and hope. We can trust God to guide us and use us as instruments of His love (1 Corinthians 15:33-34).
“Other beliefs are dangerous.” While other beliefs may differ from Christianity, responding with fear or hostility only breeds division. Instead, we can approach others with a spirit of love and understanding, confident in the transformative power of Jesus’ love (1 John 4:18).
“God will punish the wicked.” God’s justice is perfect, but He is also merciful, desiring that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Our role is not to desire punishment for others but to love and pray for them, hoping for their redemption and reconciliation with God (Matthew 5:44-45).

By addressing these objections with a focus on the teachings and example of Jesus, we can encourage a mindset that prioritizes love, understanding, and unity. This approach not only honors the sacrifice of Jesus but also helps build a community that reflects His compassion and grace.

Embracing the Love of Jesus Mindset helps to usher in a world where love and unity prevail over judgment and division. This mindset challenges us to see the divine in every individual, acknowledging that we are all part of God’s creation (1 John 4:7-8). Together, let us commit to this path of love, reflecting the teachings of Jesus in our thoughts, words, and actions. In doing so, we become instruments of God’s love and agents of positive change in our world.

Your Highest and Best is Ever Changing, and You Are As Well!

My calling as a coach is to help people achieve their highest and best potential. Despite my stellar reputation for guiding individuals toward their goals, it’s essential to recognize that personal growth is an ongoing, ever-changing process. We are all engaged in this continuous journey of evolution, each on our unique paths yet united in our quest for growth and enlightenment.

Understanding the Phases of Growth

Seven distinct phases can be understood for personal and spiritual growth. As a coach, I am adept at assisting individuals regardless of their current phase, helping them transition to the next stage, even if their growth level surpasses mine. The fundamental process remains consistent, though tailored to each individual’s specific circumstances and needs.

7 Phases of Personal and Spiritual Growth

Personal Growth Spiritual Growth
Phase 1 Survival Awakening
Phase 2 Relationship Leader
Phase 3 Self-esteem Master
Phase 4 Transformation Cosmic Consciousness
Phase 5 Internal Cohesion God Consciousness
Phase 6 Making a Difference Unity Consciousness
Phase 7 Service Ascension

See: 7 Phases of Personal Growth and 7 Phases of Spiritual Growth for more information.

The Fluidity of Growth

Growth is not linear but fluid and dynamic. For instance, I may find myself predominantly in Spiritual Growth Phase Two (Leader) yet oscillate between phases such as Spiritual Growth Phase One (Awakening) and Phase Three (Master). Simultaneously, I might navigate through Personal Growth Phases One (Survival) and Three (Self-esteem) as I manage life’s complexities on my journey.

The Necessity of Flexibility

Our paths to enlightenment are perpetually in flux, necessitating flexibility and adaptability. Rigidity in our thinking and actions can impede our progress, trapping us in a stagnant state. Viewing the world or desiring to assert things as

    • Black-and-white
    • This is good, that is bad
    • Do this, don’t do that
    • Be like me, not like them
    • This is right, and that is wrong
    • You must go this way, not that way
    • This is the way I did it; this is the way you should do it

These limiting ideals create barriers to growth. Insisting others follow our exact path because it worked for us only stifles their unique journey.

The Power of Inclusiveness

True growth requires an open mind, tolerance, and inclusiveness. Intolerance and exclusivity widen the gap between different ideas and people, hindering our collective progress. A vast consciousness surrounds us, and it is up to us to decide whether to share our understanding selectively or to embrace the limitless resources available to all who are open to this expansive consciousness.

Compassionate Coaching

The success of my coaching practice is grounded in one primary principle: the ability to be compassionate about someone else’s circumstances. I approach each client without judgment, understanding that their current position in life is a culmination of all their experiences, choices, and challenges. Instead of offering correction or imposing my own views, I empathetically imagine what it would be like to walk in their shoes, considering their unique life journey. This deep empathy allows me to see them not just as they are now but as people shaped by every episodic moment they have encountered.

By embracing this compassionate perspective, I help clients navigate their own paths to growth and transformation. Recognizing that each individual’s journey is distinct, I provide support that respects their personal history and current reality. My role is to assist them in finding their own way to the next level of their life, offering guidance tailored to their unique needs and experiences. This empathetic approach fosters a trusting and supportive environment, enabling clients to explore their potential and achieve their highest and best selves. Through compassion, I facilitate a process of self-discovery and empowerment, helping them move forward in their journey with confidence and clarity.

Overcoming Barriers to Growth

While exercising flexibility, inclusiveness, and compassion are valid approaches for those who progress and contribute positively to the world, we are doing our best with what we have. However, another significant barrier to expansive growth is our “state of mine.”

You recognize your state of mine from youth. When you were young, you were exposed to the idea of egocentric ownership, the idea that you could possess a thing, that you held the complete title and control of it and claimed it as your own. How often have we seen children struggling with a toy, each one asserting that it is “Mine!” Aren’t we just big children in that way?

The Illusion of Ownership

As adults, we continue this behavior, amassing possessions and engaging in disputes over ownership. Our society upholds this view and amasses fortunes in arguing over who belongs to whom in the present day and age, celebrating the winners, and pitying the losers. Yet none of us, not any one of us, could possibly own anything. You can possess a thing while you hold it in your hands, yes, but you can never truly control or own a thing, not even a thought.

Absolute control or ownership is an illusion.

That said,

The journey to achieving our highest and best is an ever-changing, fluid process. Embracing flexibility, inclusiveness, and a broader consciousness allows true transformation and growth. By overcoming the barriers of rigidity and the illusion of ownership, we can progress more freely and help others do the same. Together, we can navigate our unique paths toward enlightenment, sharing our insights and resources for the collective good.
