How to Be a Nicer Person

When you’ve had a particularly hard life, it can get you down. As you go through life, you can get stuck seeing life from its seedy underbelly. This view can help keep you down, but you can raise your perspective and take a stroll along the bright side of life by getting ideas about how to be a nicer person.

If your vibrational set point is set at this lower perspective, even after visiting the good things life has to offer, you are likely to return to what you’re used to, your normal setting of this lower vibration.

In this lower vibration, it’s not uncommon to feel like a lone wolf, with the inability to trust other people, and you may even start to feel more comfortable, the less people you have around you, which could lead to isolation. In this state of mind, being somewhat of a hermit might feel better than putting yourself at risk of risking the plight of integrating with others.

One of the things you could do to raise your vibration would be to become a better person. I’m not saying you’re not a good person, you’re a fantastic person just the way you are. There’s no one else on this planet who is just like you. You are amazing. But, don’t let your vibration keep you down.

How to Be a Nicer Person

You could be a nicer person by reaching out to others and being a friendlier part of the human element as a whole. You do this by connecting to others. But how can you connect to the people whom you feel isolated from?

Decide to Be a Nicer Person

Once you’ve made the decision to become a nice person, you’ve got to let go of how you look at other people. You need to stop judging them. Everyone is just another person, just like you are. They use the bathroom and put their clothes on just like you do. You must be able to wrap your head around the idea that we’re all doing the best we can with what we have.

Stop judging and stereotyping individuals by their appearance, their clothes, accessories or the car they drive. You have no idea what is going on inside that person’s life. Get used to the idea that you cannot tell a book by its cover, and stop trying to.

Let go of the idea that everyone is out to get you. No one is out to get you, unless you invite those to come and get you by psychically emitting the magnetic field of victimization by thinking thoughts, like, “everyone’s out to get me.” In that case, they will answer your call. So, stop doing that.

When you change the way you think about the people around you, the people around you change. You will see other people, those who you might have seen as potential threats, becoming nicer people as you are becoming a nicer person. When you learn to be a nicer person and follow these steps, being a nicer person is contagious.

Here are some ideas to ponder when thinking about getting closer to other people.

Do Something Nice

In our topsy-turvy fast-paced world, it’s easy to be distracted an not to pay attention to what’s going on around us in the real world, especially since more and more of us are checking our communication devices more often.

Being aware of your surroundings, you may be able to see someone whom you could bless with a random act of kindness. Like if you see someone who is height challenged (short in stature) trying to reach something on a upper shelf in a grocery store, just the simple act of reaching for the item on their behalf, can be a special small act of kindness on your part.

Nice people are often in the field of niceness and you find them doing nice things for others. Their attention to their surroundings keeps them alert for opportunities to do something nice for someone else. At the supermarket you could, grab a shopping basket and offer it to someone, allow someone to go ahead of you in the checkout line, or offer someone your parking space.

The idea is, no matter where you are, if other people are around you, there are opportunities to reach out and make someone’s day a little bit better. That’s what nice people do.

Get to Know Someone Else

It’s easy to get lost in your own world, especially if you’ve been spending a while in it alone. But getting to know someone means reaching out, inviting someone to share about themselves, then listen, like nice people do.

It’s easy to fall into picking up on other’s keywords, then interjecting stories and experiences about ourselves. When you’ve invited someone to open up, and they’ve raised the courage to open up, your interruption to interject your own experience or point of view, will shut them down. Good luck trying to get them to open up again. You will never get below the surface for a truly meaningful connection with this person.

Shut Your Trap

The best way, to connect with someone, to get to know them better, is to refrain from interrupting them telling about themselves. Let them speak about themselves. We all want to be heard, and if you’re willing to let them speak, people sincerely desire someone to listen to them (so much so, that they are willing to pay their hard-earned cash an hour for someone to listen to them).

People long to connect to other people, and they shouldn’t have to pay someone to do it. We all should be able to “be there” for each other.

So the next time someone begins to open up about themselves, do not interrupt them by talking about yourself. Just listen. You may actively listen, to prove to him or her your mind is not elsewhere by not checking your phone while they are speaking, looking them in the eyes, and repeating key points to them, confirming they have your full attention.

And when they’re done, before giving in to the urge of talking about yourself, ask them, “Is there anything more about that?”

You’ll be surprised how that simple invitation will give the person the permission and empower them to let you in even deeper. Again, resist interjecting, and when they’re done, ask them again, “Is there anything else?”

When they offer up, “No. That’s all.” Now, you can talk about yourself. If you’re asked, “What do you think about that?” Simply answer, “I understand what it must’ve been like for you.”

Be careful not to judge what they’ve just told you, or offer them advice, unless they specifically ask for input or advice.

Walk a Mile in Their Shoes

The other thing you can do, when someone is telling you their story, is to imagine what it might have been to be that person, living out their life, doing the best they can with what they have and having to deal with life’s challenges.

What might be no big deal for you, might be a huge catastrophe for someone else. Imagine what it might feel like to be in that other person’s skin at that moment. What would you feel like if you were that person, in that moment in time?

This is empathy, feeling another person’s feelings, that draws us closer and creates an emotional connection between two people in conversation.

Now that you’re connecting with others, you will find you are on your way to living a better life, possibly your best life, and now you can help make the world a better place.

Catch a Wave for a Better Life

How Did You Feel Today?

Tell me, how was today for you? What if every day could be like today, would that make you happy? Was today the best day ever, one of those days that was better than the days before, or was today very similar to the days of your life as one slowly merges into the next with little change or variation? How did you feel today?

Do you want to have another day, like today, tomorrow?
Would you like to have a better day?
What if every day could be better than the day before?

When you’ve decided to live a better life, your best life, and make the world a better place. You can say, “Goodbye,” to the same ol’ same ol’ routine of life, but you’re going to have to do some work to make it happen; you can’t just wish for a better life and expect to simply step into it. No fairy godmother is going to wave her magic wand and make it happen. If you want a better life, you’re gonna have to do something, maybe more than you bargained for, but it will be worth it if you really want a better life.

If you’re not going to do the work to live a better life, then that’s okay too. There’s nothing wrong with making the best of the life that you have, but there is a decided and purposeful difference between making the best of what you have and living your best life ever.

It’s all up to you, which would you rather do?

Make the best of the life that you have

Or

Live your best life ever and make the world a better place

There’s no right or wrong answer; it’s all up to you. What do you want to do?

If you want to live your best life and make the world a better place, it will take more than buying my book, and it will take more than reading it. It’s going take action, and it might not be easy. This might be too much to ask of yourself, so if it sounds too much like work to you, then you’re probably not being called to such a high level of excellence, and there’s no problem with that. You can always make the best of the life that you’re living.

If you’re looking to live a better life, be aware of the rare opportunities to catch a wave that could help to raise your vibration and ride that wave. But just like riding a surfboard, if you’re not making the effort to stay on the wave, it will go on without you.

If you missed that wave and it has left you behind, don’t panic; that wave was not meant for you. There’s always another wave. The next big wave could be bigger or better, maybe now, who knows, but one thing’s for sure: Another wave will come.

Inexperienced surfers are expected to crash and burn the first few times when trying to catch a wave, and that’s okay, too, because there’s always another wave.

No use in worrying about the one you missed because another one is on its way. Maybe the next one will be the one for you. Maybe, you will be able to exert the effort necessary to make sure it doesn’t pass you by; and if it does, no problem.

You cannot coast and do nothing and expect to ride the wave. It’s just not going to happen, and if you want to make the best of the life you’re living there’s no fault in that.

God is holding a treasure trove of blessings for you, no matter where you are in life.

Just keep loving and doing the best you can with what you have.

Love, love, love… love is all there really is.

Note: The seventh wave is the biggest wave

Live a Better Life? Why?

Okay, people are getting to know me as the, “Live a better life” guy, and periodically I get the occasional wise guy or gal who comes up to me and says something, like, “What? Why would I want a better life?”

It stands to reason, that the idea of living a better life does not apply to everyone. As a matter of fact, it only appeals to a very small percentage of people. So, if the ideas that I and others are suggesting sound unreasonable to you, guess what? It’s not intended for you. Although, just because the idea doesn’t sound good to you today, doesn’t mean it won’t be more appealing at some other time, because we know that people change. Not all of them, and not necessarily en masse, but there’s a tendency for people to change and/or evolve.

And for the changers and evolvers, these changes and evolution is very appealing. Those of us who realize it and are welcoming change and evolution are quite a bit ahead of the curve, but as each one of us awakens, a spark is ignited in someone else and they start to seek a better life. And sometime soon, the whole planet will be ablaze with evolutionary change.

Of course, there are those who would like to keep things from changing. Many people like things just the way they are; so much, in fact that they might be willing (and able) to do anything in their power to prevent the idea of an evolutionary change from taking place. These people see no benefit of an evolutionary change, because they see their station in life as being very good, maybe even perfect for them. But if other people did change and/or evolve, it would affect their lives in a negative way. This could be for a wide variety of reasons, which I will not offer speculation on at this time. You might ask yourself why someone might not want the world to change… and see what you come up with.

Keep in mind, while I am encouraging people to live a better life, I am not telling them how to do it. I think that if someone is leading a specific method of change, it might be more cult than evolution. For a real evolution to take place each person who evolves must allow, negotiate and manage his or her own evolution. The evolving person no longer desires to be herded, like human cattle. This is the emergence of a higher version of individuality.

As we are a part of this evolution, we are open to ideas and stories that challenge our (many) years of programming that has effectively prevented our inclination or ability to desire anything more than what we believed to be within our reach. But we are survivors; not unlike pests who can be controlled by dangerous toxins. After a while, the pest evolves and develops immunity to the toxin that once might have had deadly consequences.

Our evolution is rendering toxic ideals useless as we (some of us, and more of us, every day) are developing an immunity to the systems that prevented us from wanting a better life for ourselves, others, and future generations.

So, why might you be considering the idea of living a better life?

Joy

You may have had the occasional joyous experience, though it has often been just a fleeting moment. You start to wonder, could it be possible to maintain a state of joy for a longer period of time? (You may have even tried to create states of joy for you that might have thought were sustainable, only to find that no matter how you tried, they left you unfulfilled.)

People who are on the evolutionary journey are experiencing greater states of joy and happiness that are sustainable for long periods of time and are not dependent on outside circumstances, situations, or material things.

For the people who are living a better life, they are finding joy in the most amazing places, their work, their activities, even their innermost thoughts. They are living a better life and are enjoying all this life has to offer.

Feel Good

These evolutionary folks are in the habit of finding ways to feel good, also without dependence on what the world might like to impose upon us. They are finding the love within themselves, for themselves, others and the world. They are more likely to be positive and see the good in all things. Even though they are increasingly more independent, they are also developing a sense of the idea that we, the human race, all of us, are not only in this together, but are one, as a whole. And while they are celebrating their individuality, they do not compare themselves to others, or expect conformity, celebrating everyone’s right to find their own self, and respect their right to celebrate it.

Deeper Connection

The people who desire a better life seek a deeper connection, to themselves and others, as well as inviting a deeper connection to their higher source (referred to by many labels and names). These people are less likely to be attracted to surface conversation, or what’s in the news. They are more likely attracted to connecting with people who are in tune with who they are, how they think and how they feel, in search of deeper meaning in life.

Tolerance

If you are in the process of evolving to live a better life, you are more tolerant, loving and respecting of yourself and others. You don’t hold yourself to impossible standards. Neither do you expect compliance from anyone else. You are less likely to judge yourself harshly, and increasingly finding yourself less likely to judge others. You realize that we are all only doing the best with what we have.

Value

As you expand and evolve, the things you value begin to change. You start seeing the important and meaningful things in life have greater value to you than the things that you might have once coveted, if you were previously a victim of vain commercialism. While you might still find joy in the finer things in life, the true value of the people with whom you share a deep connection, love and care about take precedence over the value of material things. Real relationships take on a new sheen as the people in your life, your family, partners, and friends become your life’s priceless treasures (not as belongings or possessions, but they are the reason you love to love and value them so highly).

I don’t know about you, but these things are very appealing to me and I am allowing this evolution to take place in me.

Spring Cleaning Your Life

It’s time to consider a bit of Spring cleaning. While looking around your current living environment about things you could do without, you might consider things tossing out a few things from your more personal environment, by taking a closer look inside yourself.

You might find it’s time to cut our when Spring cleaning your life, like

Eliminate Excess

Find ways to minimize your lifestyle, streamlining it for maximum effectiveness with less effort and maintenance. If you can choose less over more, you will enjoy a life that is more simple allowing you to experience more happiness, joy and peace along the way to achieving your highest and best. You will find that you can cut out a great deal of nonessential possessions, dress more practically and adapting an attitude of finding less to say, listening more, when you speak make it more meaningful, and you will find your audience more attentive as you focus more on your higher calling and less about the things of this world that might otherwise weight you down.

Throw Out Caring What Other People Think

If you are unique (and you are. There’s nobody, like you, who brings your unique set of skills, talents and message – told only the way you can tell it – to the world), then at times other people are not going to get you, and they might even be inspired to prevent you from achieving your highest and best, for a variety of reasons. You may never be good enough for anyone else, but your responsibility is to God. To Him (her, or whatever you see God as), you are royalty. You have the highest authority on your side. All the greatest gifts given and advancements made in history were primarily made by people, like you and me, who were willing to go against the grain for the greater good, regardless of what other people thought, or the preconceived ideas they held tight to. Every once and a while someone needs to shake things up. Are you that person?

Place Perfectionism Atop the Trash Heap

Give up the idea that you have to have such a high standard of performance to release something to others. If you are constantly inventing/reinventing, creating/recreating, writing/rewriting, editing and re-editing, you are preventing your contribution from being released to benefit others and also preventing yourself from the benefits of your giving your gift or message to the world. Perfection often based in a fear of failure, can be holding you back, preventing your taking action, and could be your worst enemy.

Discard Excuses

Maximize your effectiveness by taking full responsibility for your life and all the opportunities that present themselves to you and avoiding making excuses that prevent you from executing. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been or how you got here. Your worthiness can be eliminated from the equation because this is your God given birthright. So quit making excuses or nay saying yourself. Excuses are only rationalizations for your not taking action. Sure, life is a scary place, but you got this. So, go for it.

Dispose of Limitations

Not far off from excuses are self-imposed limitations or negative self-talk. You never have to be good enough and you will never be educated enough or qualified enough to meet your own expectations. You might be surprised that the world doesn’t really care about your qualifications as much as they need what you are holding back. Your ideas, your expertise, your perspective, your insight, your mater-of-factness, your openness and honesty. They are waiting, don’t let them (or yourself) down by letting limitations get in your way. If you feel like something is too much of a stretch for you that may be necessary to deploy our gift, have faith. Don’t let it stop you. If you keep moving forward with momentum, what you need will appear.

Chuck Your Need for Instant Gratification

Often the best things in life take time, require a process, or a variety of details or successive decisions and associated actions along the way to arrive at an expected conclusion. If you focus only on the ultimate goal and fail to see it appearing in your anticipated time frame, you are likely to abandon your goal prior to achieving it. You can instead like your expectations to the individual steps that can get you from where you are to where you want to be. While payoff may not feel as enthusiastic, find the joy and sense of pride in knowing that you are one step closer to what you really want. Stay steady on your path and you will get there. Keep in mind that your goal may change in shape and form as you are making your way to it, and allow it to shift as you approach it for the greater good.

Junk the Idea of Being Rinky Dink

Stop playing the game like a small-time amateur. It’s time to step up and take life seriously. It’s time to man up (or woman up) in order to make your greatest contribution to your community and the don’t let your impact be limited by your locale. You have a unique gift and message that you came to this world to share. It’s on you to stop letting you being satisfied with day-dreaming, fantasizing or treating your contribution as a hobby. This is your time to get serious and make a stand or statement, let your voice be heard and your blessing be realized.

Get Rid of the Need to Multi-task

Let go of the idea that you have to do everything, or that nothing will get done if you don’t do it: All of it. Be willing to ask for help and look for ways to outsource parts of the process that are less enjoyable. Don’t let your tendency to be all ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) about it, endlessly jumping into engaging every shiny object that comes along. The most successful and effective folks (while they can manage more than one project at a time) focus on one project until it gets to the point of maintenance, then can focus on another project that is waiting in the wings. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by every new thing that comes along, because ti will be unlikely that you’ll be able to complete anything if you allow your attention to be diverted from current processes. Shorten your to-do list by focusing on the essential things you have to do and ditch everything else that only keeps you busy. Stay focused.

Cast Off the Bad Yes

You know the one: When you say, “Yes,” and make promises that do not represent your highest and best or support your ideals or goals. If you have a tendency to self sacrifice or give all you have to others, while watching your goals and dreams suffer and die, like some kind of martyr, now is the time to put an end to it. You are not only doing a disservice to those you are helping (Why? Because you’re not allowing them to flourish and grow. You are actually hindering their own ability to find and make their own way, as you’ve made them dependent on you.), but you are allowing others to prevent you from achieving your highest and best. You need time to focus on you and your ministry, start finding polite ways to say, “No.”

Ditch the Need to Be In Control

Certainly, you need to have a plan, but don’t be obsessed with controlling all of the minute details. You can’t possibly control everything. Allow the momentum and flow you’ve created with your intention and action to follow its own path. You might find that by releasing some (or more, if not all) of the control to your higher power, you will have a much easier and effective go of what it is that you’re trying to accomplish. Let things find their own way to fall into order as your keep pressing forward. Obstacles are not always opposition, sometimes they are the only way to lead you in a better direction. If something is not going the way you like, do not post up to fight against it. Instead look for a better way, and you will find an alternate door, window or path to follow and find yourself ultimately in a better position.

Jettison Toxic People

You know the ones: They suck the life, joy and resources out of you, leaving nothing left for you. They are unsupportive contrarians who could care less about you achieving your goals and ideals, and are often responsible for making you feel unworthy of the calling which beckons to you. It is also important to keep in mind that the frequency of your vibration is likely to adjust to the people whom you keep in close proximity. It’s time to eject the toxic people from your life, so that you can make room for the like-minded people who are ready, willing, able to support you and desire seeing you achieve your highest and best.

Reject the Media

Not just the news, but don’t allow your attention to be interrupted or yourself to be dissuaded by anything you see, hear or read in any media. Consider a media hiatus which includes all forms of media, including the television, Internet, social media… anything that might be bombarding you with negative energy. Avoid the temptation of these destructive forces that suck the time and life out or you, which could be thwarting your otherwise healthy pursuits.

Incinerate the Unhealthy Choices

You might find it’s time to let go of your attachment to activities that are not in the best interest of the maintenance of your body (AKA your temple of God). This is your vehicle for your performance and enjoyment of the journey you are on. Wouldn’t you enjoy the journey more, if your vehicle is in tip top shape? You’ve already discarded excuses, so start looking for ways you can eat better and find physical activities that lead to a more healthy lifestyle. We all could use a tune up.

Stop Looking for the Easy Way

You have to give up on the idea that what you want is simply going to fall into your lap, because that is never going to happen. Everything you could possibly desire (you only desire it because you don’t have it) cannot be realized without first taking action. It is highly unlikely (although not impossible because nothing is impossible) that you will win the Lottery without purchasing a ticket (if not a number of tickets in succession) first. You have heard stories of the instant, overnight success of others, but the truth is: Most of those stories are fiction. I don’t mean some are fiction and some are true and include all of the facts that contributed to the story as it was presented, I mean: None of those stories include all the facts necessary to tell the whole story, ‘ere they are all fiction. Does that mean there’s no hope? No. Good fortune always follows those who create it for themselves.

Is it possible for you to live the best life ever and have all your dreams come true? Yes, it’s all up to you.

Are you ready to take responsibility to do what it takes to have the life you want?

You can do it, and it’s not as hard as you might think, a little Spring cleaning will get you on your way, but you must move and keep moving toward what you want, and you will get there, if you don’t give up and keep going.

Life and Death Medical Miracles

I have met many people who have received a fatal diagnosis from their doctor, received the same grim prognosis from a second doctor, both suggesting the patient has, “6 months to live,” and that they should, “get their affairs in order.”

medical-miracles-6-months-to-live-fatal-diagnosis-miracle-or-misdiagnosis-live-life

Interestingly enough, some of them experience miraculous recoveries. 84% of Americans believe in miracles.

Revisiting their doctors, they are re-examined and the doctor’s reply is the same, including two options:

“This is either a miracle or a misdiagnosis.”

Not all of the patients are faced with having to sort through the details of their recovery in an effort to discover why they aren’t dead, because most of them did die. Those who lived are grateful to have another day and continue to do so for the remainder of their long life.

No one believes in miracles more than me, but if you have access to the people who lived and ask the right questions, another vista begins to appear on the horizon.

Based on my (admittedly anecdotal) research of those who have lived and others who have died, I have concluded that a common perspective is shared by those who live and alternatively those who die.

Mind you, I am promoting no agenda, just offering up my observations for you and possibly other more qualified researchers to further investigate. That said, the people who live

Don’t Want to Die

While the people who die
Don’t seem to care much whether they live or die

The people who experience miraculous recovery (or misdiagnosis) have reasons to live. In fact, if you query them, they passionately list many reasons for living another day. They are so enthusiastic, that if I were God, I couldn’t help but give them one, and another, and another…

Of course, if you dig deeper, there seems to be another component in place for those who have looked death in the face and proclaimed, “Sorry. Ain’t goin’ there.”

And that is that they began to live. They began to live their life like never before. They began to live their life like they only had six months to live, then five, then four, then three, then two, then one, then each day – one day at a time – living each day as if it was their last, in an effort to fit as much life into that one day as possible, then onto the next.

Alternatively some of those who defied death took full responsibility and alternative proactive approaches to their medical condition, which may have included a complete change of lifestyle and an out-of-country medical vacation. Medical tourism is growing by leaps and bounds as Baby Boomers go offshore for alternative treatment modalities that are highly effective but not legal in the United States.

Other alternative therapies are also considered to affect change and to enhance one’s ability to enjoy a higher quality of life in their remaining days or years.

So, the “miracle” in the doctor’s miracle-or-misdiagnosis proposal appears much less than a miracle than it may seem. In fact, the doctor’s referring to what has actually transpired seems to be not the declaration of a miracle at all but more of a dismissal of anything the patient may have done to affect such a miraculous metamorphosis.

It might be worth contemplating the question

What would you do if you were given six months to live?

Having an idea about how you might respond may have you prepared and at peace with your reaction if you are ever the recipient of such a grim diagnosis.

Or, you might consider living a better life, your best life and making the world a better place now and possibly even bypass the entire scenario altogether.

You don’t need a death sentence to start living.

You can start living your best life today.

Live a Better Life Your Best Life

Many of my clients, friends, and followers have been asking about when my next book is coming out. Well, finally, here it is.

live-a-better-life-your-best-life-and-make-the-world-a-better-place

It is based on the number one question I get asked on the street. It may come in many forms, but is basically, “How do you live such an amazing life?” followed by, “How can I do that?” Though the second half of the question is more often than not misstated as “I wish I could do that,” or, “I could never live a life like yours.”

The truth is, you can – anyone can – if you follow the basic ideas contained within this book.

Of course, I could not afford to sit down with each person individually and work with them on their life’s journey, but thanks to your queries and encouragement, I’ve collected these ideas, which I would share with you in person if we had the opportunity and time to spend together.

My clients are spoiled because they get unfiltered access to me and enjoy the benefits thereof and now you can, too.

If you’d like to live a more amazing life, without having to spend a lot of time and money on professional coaching, this is a great way to get started. So, run out and get a copy from Amazon or your local bookstore, and let me know what you think.

Also, be aware that I am in the process of expanding my service arena to better serve a larger audience, so keep in touch with me and I will let you know what new programs you can participate in as they become available.
